Vocals - Mickael from Opeth. Hes awsome! great clean vocals
Guitars - Alexi from COB, not sure at time
Drums - Janne Saarenpaa from Crown, the guy from Dimmu Borgir
Bass - ???
Keyboard - COB again

what do u think?

i'm going to name two for each category

Vocals-Russell Allen from symphony x (awesome technical singer and great range low and high)

Henning Basse from Metalium (i still can't beleive the range of this guy very good clean voice)

Guitars- Michael Romeo from symphony x ( very very technical guitarrist one of my favorite riff writters blinding speed solos tapping, sweep  classical influenced and a great composer)

Peter Wichers and Ola Frenning from Soilwork (awesome duo of guitarrists my favorite riffs writters period and love the solos)

Drums-Henry Ranta(Soilwork,Defaced and Terror 2000) love his style speedy drummer at times and love his fills

Tony Laureno and Pete Hammoura from Nile (this guys speed  blasts beats, just plain awesome)

Bass-Thomas Miller ex SYX (very good bassist and great lyrics writter)

Cliff ex metallica (the live show  )
Keyboards- Jordan Rudess from Dream Theater (awesome solos and very good use of the bend)

Mike Pinnella from SYX- (i like more his composicional skill but i think he uses his speed so much on his solos, they are very good solos though)

Vocals: Matt Barlow (Iced Earth) or Mikeal Akertfeldt (Opeth)
Guitars: Michael Romeo (Symphony X)
Bass: Steve DiGorgio
Drums: Jan Axel Van Blomberg...no explantation needed \m/

Vocals: Lars Eric Si- it was close with Vintersorg and Vortex's older stuff but his voice is just awsome. There are lots of great harsh vox out there.....

Guitar and Bass-I don't know.....so many good ones....?

Drums-Jan Axel von Blomberg-haha, duh.

Keyboards:Andy Winter-his pieces are really creavtive and enjoyable...

Vocalists - Henning Basse (Metalium), Warrel Dane (Nevermore), Mikeal Akerfeldt (Opeth), Ray Alder (Fates Warning / Engine)
Guitarists - Jim Matheos (Fates Warning), Alex Skolnick (Testament / Attention Deficit), Chris Caffery (Savatage), John Pertucci (Dream Theater), Muka Tenkula (Sentenced)
Drummers - Mark Zonder (Fates Warning), Dave Lombardo (Slayer / Grip Inc.) Van Williams (Nevermore), Dave Culross (Malevolent Creation), Gene Hoglan (Death / Dark Angel)
Bass - Jon Myung (Dream Theater), Les Claypool (Primus), Stu Hamm, Mike Manring
Keyboards - Kevin Moore (Dream Theater / Fates Warning), Jordan Ruddass (Dream Theater)

Vocals: Hansi Kursch (Blind Guardian\Demons&Wizards)
There are many other good ones different from him but he's my personal favourite. He has many different kinds of voices (from a tender woman-like voice to very agressive and powerful shouts) and he does all of them perfect. He also does very good and interesting harmonies with layers of his voice.

Drums: Thomen Stauch (Blind Guardian)
Let's just say I can listen almost every drum-line alone from the latest BG albums (NiME and ANATO) without getting bored...
A very original and skilled drummer.

Guitars: Andre Olbrich (Blind Guardian)
I guess that technically he's not the best. Still I really like how he plays, with guitar melodies all over the songs, guitar harmonies and great original solos. I like him as a songwriter even better...

As for the Keys and Bass, I'm not really sure (Blind Guardian doesn't have regular Bass and Keys players...:p  ).

I like Ayreon's Keyboards player, I also like Martin Brandstrom (Dark Tranquillity)...

I haven't heard too much Steve DiGorgio, only Testament's 'The Gathering'. I like Opeth's bass lines though...

Edit: Fredrik Nordstron-->Martin Brandstrom...
Silly me, I always mix those two up...

I think some of the best vocals belong to Bjorn Strid of Soilwork. His death vocals are aggressive and powerful, and his newfound clean voice is pure honey. Ihsahn from Emperor is a sure bet; misanthropic, visceral shrieking and a distinctive clean voice. Dax Riggs of Acid Bath had a pretty weird-ass voice on him too for that matter. Chuck Billy (Testament) has always been one of my favourites, he's a very dynamic vocalist and knows how to throw in variety appropriately. I'd also mention Martin Cock and Chad Gray of American Head Charge and MuDvAyNe respectively because they too have great voices and clean/aggressive styles, but most people hate nu-metal even though it's the most common avenue into the heavier stuff we all appreciate.

There's so many good guitarists it's crazy to try and pick-out the best, but I guess Peter Wichers and Ola Frenning from Soilwork are damn impressive, Trey from Morbid Angel was ahead of his time and a great player, Dave Murray of Iron Maiden is a god, and Eric Peterson is an all-round great musician.

Bassists; Steve DiGorgio, Steve Harris and a personal preference in Ryan Martinie

Drummers are the same as guitarists imo...but..Mauricio Weimar of Nephasth strikes me as being incredible. Kinda like Flo Mounier but more inspired and creative.

Blind Tranquillity, Fred has only done occassional keyboards in the first albums. Surely you mean Martin?

Anyway, excluding all DT members (to prevent this from being one sided)...

Vocalist: Either: Mikael Akerfeldt - Just so damn good at everything he does.
Jon from Dissection - Eerie, brutal and powerful. Love it...
Jonas from Katatonia - The voice of the desire for suicide.

Guitarist: Jon again (listen to Where Dead Angels lie, the mans a genius), Jesper Stromblad and Ihsahn spring to mind also... in fact... why not Ihsahn above as well? Blackheim is cool also.

Bassist: Any old schmuck does here :p

Drummer: Faust = Smack smack smack...
Trym, Hellhammer, Martin Lopez, both Erlandssons... they're good too.

Keyboardist = Sven Karlsson (Embraced/Soilwork) -
Janne from CoB, Ihsahn (AGAIN) both spring to mind...

vocals - Mikael Akerfeldt or Ihsahn

guitar - Chuck Schuldiner he was so good techically, emotional music and original

Bassist - alex webster is the only i can think of now

drums- Flo Mournier

Keyboards - Janne from CoB
