Right now I think Immortal is a very cool bandname. It could be because I just got into them and really love their music.

I love Dream Theater, that's a cool name to me...
and no, it's not only because I like the band, I like much more Dark Tranquillity and Blind Guardian and I find those names not that cool...
also we had a band here with a great name, well actually two...
for a serious band: Heroes del Silencio (Heroes of Silence)
for a funfull band: Un pingüino en mi ascensor (A penguin in my elevator)

if you want short, sweet and a "what the hell does that mean" name, i'd pick therion or opeth... maybe katatonia...

i think hardcore band 'boy sets fire' wins first prize for me. their song titles are pretty interesting at times, as i find interesting all song titles that have next to nothing to do with the song lyrics. for instance, some of their tracks are called: "still waiting for the punchline", "compassion (as skull fragments on the wall)" and "my life in the knife trade".
a.f.i.'s song titles are funny in the same veneer: "god called in sick today", "no poetic device", "catch a hot one" and "narrative of soul against soul" have absolutely no apparent connection to the lyrics.
skyclad's "the present imperfect", on the other hand, is maybe the best pun in a song title i have ever heard.
