'best of' releases a result of downloading?

Blitzkrieg

Master Exploder
It is obvious to everyone that lately any artist without the creative control to stop it happening is releasing a best album. This is happening so much more now than it ever has, and I just had a thought, do you think it may be to try and make up some of the money that is lost through lost sales due to downloading? Or is there some other reason why it is so fasionable to release a best of at the moment?

I can't stand best of's... except for bands who need them, like The Rolling Stones. Forty Licks is unreal.

And 8191 was a great best of for me to get into RATT... but apart from those I usually try and hunt down an album that I'm pretty sure I'll like to get into a band.

I don't know why they're doing so many Best Of's recently, but I don't like it.

But then you get best-ofs where they include a bonus track or two, and what do people who already have every other song do? Download those bonus tracks.

Its just because its Christmas Blitzy, they sell better as gifts, you see it every year :)
