Best so far 2005???

Cryptopsy - Once was Not
Cephalic Carnage - Anomalies
Leng tche - The process of elimination
Machetazo - sinfonias del terror ciego
Opeth - Ghost reveries
Pelican - The Fire In Our Throats Will Beckon The Thaw

Virus sounds promising, so does Vermin, but I haven't heard any of them yet.

Besides those....

Nevermore
Nile
Possibly Cryptopsy
Probably Heathen
I was hoping to put Testament into this list but.....

I've heard really good things of Doedskvad by Taake and I'm not sure if I've even bought any albums that were put out so far. I'm not an Opeth fan so I didn't buy it (they're too epic for me). Wait, I take it back, Touched By The Crimson King by Demons & Wizards was pretty good. I'm looking forward to Cradle Of Filth's next one (yea, yea). I'm also hoping to order some Taake, Deathspell Omega, etc; online since they don't sell a lot of the real Black Metal in stores.

Damn it. How did I not hear Equilibrium - Turis Fratyr until now?

This is the album of the year, no contest.

Thee Plague of Gentlemen - Primula Pestis has GREAT, GREAT sound and some smokin' riffs of doom! not gonna say it's the best of the year, that title will be reserved 'til january 1st, but it's gonna be up there!

Lot of good discs so far this year.... almost too many to mention...

Arch Enemy - Doomsday Machine
Brainstorm - Liquid Monster
Bruce Dickinson - Tyranny Of Souls
Candlemass - Candlemass
Circus Maximus - The 1st Chapter
Dark Tranquillity - Character
Demons & Wizards - Touched By The Crimson King
Dream Theater - Octavarium
Falconer - Grime Vs. Grandeur
Freedom Call - The Circle Of Life
Green Carnation - The Quiet Offspring
Hammerfall - Chapter V: Unbent, Unbowed, Unbroken
Judas Priest - Angel Of Retribution
Kamelot - The Black Halo
Labyrinth - Freeman
Morgana Lefay - Grand Materia
Nevermore - This Godless Endeavor
Nightrage - Descent Into Chaos
Overkill - ReliXIV
Redemption - The Fullness Of Time
Sentenced - The Funeral Album
Slough Feg - Atavism
Symphorce - Godspeed

... and there's a whole lot I haven't even heard yet (at least 15 of which I just picked up at ProgPower).

Autumn Aurora came out a year ago.

Nothing has beat Ulver yet. And the only possible thing that might win out would be John Zorn - Mysterium, but I'm sure it won't, since it's instrumental, which isn't going to compete with Garm.

Ulver has not been good since Bergtatt.
