Best "still life" song

The Moor Obviously, not just the best song from Still Life but probably there best song of all time, either that or the Leper Affinity. Face of melinda is the best mellow tune on the album, that distorted riff near the end is one of their best riffs. The whole album is a masterpiece and there magnum Opus in my opinion, Still Life is #1!

White faced! Haggard grin, this serenity painted death, :headbang:

Benighted, allthough Godheads Lament is really close aswell. And so are all other songs.

Moonlapse Vertigo... the part that starts at 0:47 just gives me the chills everytime.

Yes!!! I'm glad that someone else noticed the absolute gorgeousness of that riff. It gives me chills.

In addition, the outro riff is fucking brilliant.

So, yeah, Moonlapse for me. :kickass:

Godhead's Lament. The clean vocals in that own so hard. As does the rest of the song.
Or The Moor. The intro in that owns so hard. As does the rest of the song. And there's a street near where I live called The Moor and I want to nick the sign.

3 nominees......Serenity Painted Death,Face of Melinda and Moonlapse Vertigo. And oscar goes to....

Face of Melinda.Last 2-3 minutes is just enough for me to make this song the best of Still Life.Others are decent songs but this is best for me.

This is an interesting question. Benighted was the first Opeth song I ever heard and thought it was straight pimp. Now it is one of my least favorite of theirs...

I would say that my overall answer is Moonlapse. But when I listen to the album as a whole I would say SPD. It is the climax of the story, "Saw her fading" almost brings me to tears (Yeah I'm a pussy) and then a minute later "claiming my flesh" Makes me bloodthirsty.

Talk about a swing in emotion with a 40 minute build up.

But as an individual work,

1. Moonlapse
2. Moor
3. Godhead
3. SPD
5. Face of Melina
5. White Cluster
5. Benighted

I do not like Godhead's Lament that much.It is a good song, especially the acoustic part. But intro riff bores me to death.
