Best Tool album?

Aenima > Lateralus = 10,000 Days > Undertow > Opiate

I've posted that a couple of times already I think.

Aenima is a great album. The songwriting is incredible.

Lateralus is also incredible. They fully moved away from there earlier influences, and close to any of what might be heard on there first releases, and undertow.

10,000 days has its moments, with good songwriting overall.

some riffs however are poorly arranged into the song or simply arent that good.

Undertow is also sufficiently awesome. But a different league.

all TBH,

but to actually answer...

my favorite album is Lateralus. But they each have there good qualities

really ! I need to get some Tool, at least one CD
Lateralus or Aenima really. Both are awesome CDs, but Aenima is a bit better in my opinion. 10,000 Days is also really good, but I don't think it's the best place to start.

I'm back down. I'm in the undertow

Undertow is quickly becoming my favorite from the band. It was Lateralus, but Undertow is definitely the darkest album from the band

Undertow seems to me to exhibit a kind of gloomy, forlorn world mentality (dilapidated tenements, swamps, ruined buildings-that sort of thing). The hidden tracks after Disgustipated are creepy and disturbing as hell. I still get goosebumps when listening to the guy at the very end of the album. He sounds like a serial killer.

Aenima and Lateralus have a much more sci-fi, alternate dimension feel to them. I don't know about 10,000 Days; I'm not a huge fan of that album.
