This movie would've been a lot better by cutting all the non-battle parts out. Seriously, what the fuck? The acting was bloody awful and cheesy, the sex scene was hilarious and the voice-over just pissed me off. Sure the movie looked beautiful, but that can only entertain one for so long.
Yeah, I saw it opening night at the IMAX. I was laughing the entire time. Awful dialogue, stupid sub plot (which Frank Miller had nothing to do with, obviously), and too little battle.
but even with all the failings, they got the Spartans to appear as TOTAL BADASSES, and that's the ENTIRE POINT. Any other kind of plotline is unneccesary as long as that one point is fulfilled.

haha, yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing this butchering of history. I heard there was supposed to be a Hannibal (alps, elephants and killing romans) at some point, apparently its still going on, after 5 years
Looking forward to that one too.
I love ancient history (especially military history)
So much for this being a "realistic film". In this one, I expect hannibal will smite a legion with a small knife. Then use a rocket launcher to blast down the gates of rome! The elephants will be equipped with grenade launchers and lasers.

I think this is pretty much true. Even though the movie wasn't "omg greatest thing evarz!!!11" for me, or even close, I appreciated the sheer audacity and means of building the mythos. It was a damn fun time, and funny as shit. "There's no reason for us to be uncivil"
I do not understand why people care even a little bit about how accurate 300 is. I couldn't care less. I think some people are missing the point. I went into the movie wanting to see Spartans fuck shit up for 2 hours, and that is exactly what I got. The fact that the acting/dialog was not the greatest never crossed my mind once the entire time I was watching it or after word, because it simply doesn't matter.
