best, worst things of the day?

I'd probably break my ankles on those heels. Can't walk on them to save my life. So stepping on your own foot with them is quite an accomplishment. New heights indeed! :D

Ah see I can walk better in heels than i can in flats... just apparently not that night! haha
The crazy thing is another girl in my dance class had broken her foot doing the same sort of thing :s we're all so accident prone!

See I've seen Sabaton play one song live, they supported Dragonforce the first time i saw them, but by the time they let the queue in, i got in just in time to see sabaton's last song grrr. can't wait to see them at bloodstock!

Best: Serenity live, headliner show in The Hague last night. It was a very small venue, sort of an upgraded barracks, there were maybe 50 - 60 people there. So cozy, and a very good show! Only 7 people in front row, with about a meter of space behind us. Support act D'lemma was kinda Dream Theater-ish. Me likes :D, even though they obviously still have some things to learn.
Worst: having to walk back to the hostel. It was either that, or wait for an hour for a night bus. Since it was kinda cold, that wasn't really an option.

hmmm, let me tell you guys a story about the 24th of November 2008
best thing of my day: Seeing Firewind Live & having a great time with my friends!!!!!
WORST thing: Waiting nearly 1h for BOB to come and sign his CD and not having any chance to get back home until the morning.

(So, i was forced to go back to the railstation. waiting there until 04:50am for the first train in the morning. IT WAS DAMN COLD, and I was like a homeless person walking along the small town Pratteln searching for a warm place. On my way, trying to find some warm place to sleep those 3 hours or what, I went inside a phone booth and many other places. But that was not warm and confortable. Then I found out, that there was a building nearly finished with construction, where I could go inside and sleep. First, I tried to go upstairs when I realized that there were actually already people & families living there. Hehe, and then I went to the cellar of that building and saw that it wasn't used yet. I put my leather jacket to a pillow, sleeped for 2 1/2 hours until the first train departed and had a "cool" time until then.
any questions?

Best this week: Seeing Dream Evil and Kamelot, and no problem to get my tickets at the door after ticketweb screwed up. That's the first and last time I'll ever order tickets through ticketweb.
Worst: Dream Evil getting cut short, and no Serenity.:(

I still can't believe Kamelot cut Dream Evil's set!!! They weren't running late, Kamelot took them off early, as it was pretty clear the crowd like DE better!!! it's happened before as well, politics on tour between Kamelot and Dream Evil. There were a lot of people there purely for Dream Evil (me included, hell I left after DE's set, I was that pissed off with Kamelot I refused to watch them). Grrr, if i ever meet Roy Khan I really am gonna shout at him now, and not just about his pretentiousness of wearing a coat on stage!

It was an awesome set for Dream Evil though, despite the technical difficulties at the start, good to see the boys again, I can't wait to see them again at hammerfest!!!!
It was also good to meet you and your daughter sekhmet61!

so summary: best things: Dream evil! meeting fellow forumers, running into old friend I haven't seen in ages
worst things: Kamelot beings ****s and cutting DE's set, my two friends dropping out meaning I had to pay for the hotel by myself (made better by the fact dream evil's hotel room was 5 doors down from mine mwahaha)

:bah: I hate it when this forum decides to log me out of it's own accord when I'm trying to post a reply.

Katie, I don't know why DE were cut short, but I doubt them being better liked than Kamelot would be a reason. There was no way to compare at that point. It did suck though, and they were obviously disappointed about it.
*pictures Katie shouting up at Roy* Out of curiosity: what's your problem with Kamelot? Do you simply not like their music, or is it an attitude thing?

Oh, and forget the 61 in my username. It's only there because the name of sekhmet was already taken when I registered.

Same hotel, same floor? :worship:

Trust me, it was politics, it's happened before with Kamelot and Dream Evil. kamelot could easily had done their full set whilst letting Dream Evil play the whole two songs they had left on their set. They didn't even give them the common courtesy of a '1 song left warning'. believe me, I spoke to dream evil after the gig, their set was cut because of kamelot's pettyness, no other reason.

they're music's entertaining but it's nothing special. before sunday i didn't have a problem with them, other than the extreme vain-ness of the singer wearing a coat through his set despite the fact he's obviously dying of heat :p now i have a serious problem with them because what they did was so petty and pissed off so many fucking people. i travelled all the way to london just for dream evil, so yeah, i'm beyond pissed that they didn't get to play my two favourite songs because of Kamelot being dicks!

haha yeah, as in i stuck my head out of my door and said goodnight to nik and peter as they went in their room a few doors down :p

Weird...I find myself defending Kamelot here, and defending DreamEvil on the Kamelot forum...
Venue policy could also have a lot to do with it, they kinda threw us out right after the gig, so they may have been pushing too. But you're absolutely right about the '1 song left' thing. That could have been done more elegantly.
It wasn't so bad for me, as I was there for both bands. And Serenity of course, I was really disappointed to find they were not playing.

So what were the set times supposed to be then? My memory for these things is never the best but I seem to remember Dream Evil finishing at 9:00, and Kamelot starting at 9:30 (or was it 9:20). I also remember early on in Dream Evil's set that there were some delays between songs.

First of all, the word is vanity. Secondly, I was wearing a big leather coat similar to Khan's throughout the gig and I didn't sweat once. I don't know how physically demanding singing can be but Khan wasn't exactly running around the stage like a maniac a'la Bruce Dickinson. I do think it looked a bit silly done up though. It would have looked better undone. Thirdly, listen to 'The Expedition', in particular after they finish playing Shadow of Uther, then after they finish playing Millenium.
