I've only heard Aria of Vernal Tombs and it's fucking glorious. The album cover is straight out of a Vincent Price movie, I mean almost exactly a specific scene from Tomb of Ligeia. What's not to love?

Tried to buy the other one a few times, but it's very expensive. I know several of y'all say it's the better album. Don't wanna hear it until I have a physical copy in my cold dead hands.

ive got both. they definitely need to repress the debut. dunno why they havent. also need to re-release the demos at some point.

anyway, they both, are excellent in their own right, but Aria is where they found THAT sound. however, Suspended ends with probably ones of the greatest instrumentals ever.

Out of these two albums, I'd say that "Aria..." wins by just a hair. He really locked in the songwriting for that album, but "Suspended..." is still a 10/10 release IMO. "In the White Fields" is forever his greatest song. The new album is obviously excellent but I can't say that it's the best offering. It's hyper focused and I really enjoy the enhanced production.

It's really a toss up between the first two---like MFJ said, the songwriting on Aria is probably a smidge better but I Eos will always be more memorable for me (and maybe has more urgency), I used to listen to that album a ton in the car and there were really not too many bands doing that style at the time. It's probably the closest I have heard to morningrise with both the guitar interplay and the upfront bass. The aforementioned 'in the white fields', 'cabin lights' and the 'starlit shore' are all amazing.
