i really hate the term "sellout". bands get older, influences change, and songwriting gets stale if you keep using the same formula and yet we keep expecting bands to be the same as they were 10 years ago. i certainly don't listen to the same stuff i was 10 years ago. when it comes to metallica the only vice i have with them was the symphonic cd as it wasn't very well arranged and came off more gimmicky and St Anger which came across as a really confused album from a band who doesn't really know what they want from themselves anymore. with some focus they could really re-create themselves and their style in a way that shows who they are today. a band who tries to resurrect their past in order to please old fans without really feeling it themselves is no less selling out than a band who starts writing songs with an attempt to reach a larger audience at the expence of their own credibility.

The term sellout is generally accepted as a band that changed their style in order to appeal to a larger audience, and in doing so bring about bigger paycheques for themselves.

Making music for money = whores of the industry.

Selling out is not really a big deal. The way Metallica carried themselves when changing was a big deal.

I'm pretty surprised a lot of the times when bands release more than 3 cds with the same style. I don't expect a musician to write the same thrash/death metal riffs forever.

fuckin exactly. i think they spent more time trying to look like the so-called greatest metal band in the world rather than by being the the best metal band in the world. too much time spent doing interviews and photoshoots and to little time working on where they needed to go musically. and i don't expect bands too stay the same either. we already have master of puppets and AJFA so give us something new. i don't think that metallica will ever truly go thrash again but i think that if metallica re-discovers the fun of playing together and making metal then the product will benefit. but i think hammet needs to go cause i don't really believe his interest in metal is really there anymore. look at his playing on the load and newer albums and you can see signs of laziness and dis-interest.

Burzum isn't overpriced here.

I cant even find Burzum here. What about cob, ticketmaster sent me an email saying Hot Topic present Children of Bodom April 4

What the hell, was there another reissue of the Burzum releases or something that's more expensive? They used to be $13-14 at my record store, now I check online and they're $19...what the hell. Oh well, I already have them, so it doesn't matter.

I dont think there are record stores in New Mexico, if so they shure dont sell burzum. Ive never seen burzum in any stores.
