Because a few people out there want to use a little thing called Pro Tools, and because used 002's are cheap these days.

Mwha.. i don't know.. i've been happier with products that were just straight out awesome new from the box.
I get the protools comment, but then again.. BLA is pretty expensive right?

Right. BLA also mod motu, m-audio an alesis stuff.
You can get just about anything modded.....there are plenty of U87 mods-- does that mean that the u87 is a shitty mic?

The Bla mod makes things better..
The U87 mod is one to tailor the sound to ones taste.. quit a difference in my opinion.
But whatever.. stupid discussion haha. sorry i brought it up!

I think everyone agrees the 002 is underwhelming, but nobody buys into Digi for their LE hardware.

Not when you consider the price to performance ratio. People using LE that want to get the most out of their system have two choices: An external converter or the BLA mod. A Rosetta 800 will run around $2500 and then you're still limited to only 8 channels of good conversion. The clock upgrade really opens up the stock converters and the analog upgrades clean up the signal considerably. Combined, this gives you nice clean audio on all 8 analog channels of the 002. Then, if you add the Rosetta 800 (or similar), you've got 16 channels that you can't make any excuses for.

at the end of the day, if the stuff your putting out sounds good, it sounds good. doesnt matter how you got there, as long as it sounds good.
