Daniel is an avowed metalhead, but until now you didn’t really find any obvious traces in his music. On Heathen, though, he applies SPT’s colorful, lusty style to songs by Darkthrone, Venom, Beherit, Mayhem, Hellhammer, and other grim outfits, incorporating guests like Antony, Wye Oak’s Jenn Wasner, David Serrotte of the Baltimore vogue ball crew House of Revlon, and Locrian’s Terence Hannumm. Snippets from gay house classics (and porn) also play a part.

Yeah there are some pretty damning similarities between her material and Bergtatt/various other 90's acts. It is obviously intentional, and the whole thing seems really pieced together. I honesty just think that the album isn't good- my opinion has nothing to do with the hype.

Deathspell Omega belongs in here. I've never understood the hype for this band. I tried with Si Monumentum and Kenose, but no dice. This band was bad. So recently I worked out a big trade, and one of the voices in my head told me to give DSO another shot. Surely all these metal listeners cant be wrong, can they? I mean, even some in this forum like the band! JayK splooged all over the band. Opeth17 said they were the best bm band ever before promptly selling his collection so he could walk the earth whilst listening to deafheaven.

So in the trade I picked up Fas - maldtjnvd ng aeternum. And you know what, I was wrong the entire time. This band isnt bad. They simply define mediocrity to a fucking T. Masterpiece my ass. So they growl about satan and philosophy. Woah, so deep man. They have cool time signatures! So do the faggots in cynic, and they suck! Literally and figuratively. But J, you dont get it! Bullshit, the ones who dont like this philosophical babble metal ARE the ones who get it. Because it you like it, you dont GET quality.

So anyone want this hipster album? Lets trade

Nah, it's the only album of theirs I would consider a fail. All the rest is good to great. Have you tried the early material?
