Yes I know there were other vocalist in Black Sabbath but I wanted a choice between Ozzy or Dio.

BTW here is a very good preview to the new Heaven and Hell DVD:

You can see 4 complete songs.

01 Falling of the Edge of the World
02 Shadow of the Wind
03 Die Young
04 Heaven and Hell

If you use IE to view this you can activate full screen view.
I could not get the full screen view to work with Firefox.

Enjoy!

Ozzy's time finished in 1978. Dio still got what it takes, and Sharon can die and rot. You can call it HAH or whatever you like but it is Black Sabbath all the way.

Oops....I voted for Ozzy since I read this wrong. I like his legacy with the band better, but if they are to continue, it is no doubt DIO who should front them.

The reunion is awesome!

Dio; Heaven & Hell is in my opinion the top of Sabbath's work. Although Ozzy was of an enormous importance for Metal, Dio did a better job. Both Dio and Ozzy are rich people , Dio though has kept integrity, Ozzy has thrown himselve for the swines (sorry for the referral sixx :) of commerciality. He has become a tabloid personality with his poor family and on top owned himself the rights to the Black Sabbath name.
So it's also an overall view of personality that drives me straight towards Dio.

Thats exactly why I voted for Dio right from the start! :)

I'd have to go with Dio. Though I was more of a Ozzy-era Sabbath fan, he's just shot, and I can't imagine him pulling off anything really impressive anymore. Dio it is...

eeeeeeeek not another Ozzy vs Dio thread :zombie:

Anyways my vote is for Ozzy simply because the first albums with Sabbath from 1968 to 1975 will always be the better material and more material. Dio did 4 albums with them. One of which was a live album. Not enough material in my book.

To me this thread is not about the present nor future with them but about their past. The H&H thing will most likely be a one time thing or at best a thing for now and then you won't hear from them for years again (ala Dehumanize). By then Dio will be in his 70's and probably in Heaven or in Hell

What Ozzy has done with his career (the commercialism with the reality show etc.) should not reflect on the classic work he did with Sabbath in the 70's. With all due respect to Dio but Ozzy does the old Sabbath songs better. To me Dio's voice and personality just do not fit the old songs, only the songs he did with them after Ozzy left.

Dio walks his dog in the park by Pabla's house, him and his wife established Children of the night a non-profit agency to help keep teens off the street and out of prostitution http://www.childrenofthenight.org/home.html

I don't know what Dio's home looks like but I have been by Ozzy's in Beverly Hills and they are definately living the posh life and wasting a boat load of money....well someone has to pay for Sharon's plastic surgery. :ill:

And more fuel to the fire:

There's plenty of talk about a Black Sabbath reunion for 2008. It's just not coming from the band members themselves. Guitarist Tony Iommi tells Billboard.com that even though "everybody's been talking to me" about the much-reported regrouping, "there's nothing in stone at all. It's very loose, so we'll see what happens."

Sharon Osbourne, original frontman Ozzy Osbourne's wife and manager, indicated earlier this year that Sabbath would be working together in 2008, and recently confirmed that "we're definitely talking to the guys." She hopes to further the discussions while Ozzy is on the road this fall on his post-Ozzfest tour with Rob Zombie and as Iommi and bassist Terry "Geezer" Butler finish up their Heaven & Hell tour with Ronnie James Dio.

Iommi says he'd like to see any Sabbath reunion involve some new music; the group's original lineup hasn't released a full set of fresh material since 1978's "Never Say Die!," though it did include a couple of new tracks on the 1998 live album "Reunion."

"I've been going on for a few years now saying I think we should've done an album a long time ago," Iommi explains. "It would be nice to do one, but, again, it's having the time to do it. I haven't written an album with Ozzy for a long time, so we'll have to see how long that'll take, and what it involves."

Iommi says he and Osbourne have been talking throughout the year and reports that the singer is "doing quite alright. He sounded fine when I spoke to him. We usually check in with each other and say, 'How you doing?'"

Heaven & Hell, meanwhile, is gearing up for a second North American tour, which kicks off Sept. 5 with opening acts Alice Cooper and Queensryche. This time out the group is supporting the "Live From Radio City Music Hall" CD and DVD, and Iommi and Butler acknowledged that they're intrigued by the possibility of continuing this band as well.

"It could happen, but we're not planning anything yet," says Butler. "We've always said it's just for this year only and that's it. But if something happens in the future ... I mean, I didn't even know this was gonna happen a year ago, so never say never."

Iommi adds, "I think we'd probably like to do something, whether it's an album or whatever, because it's such a great lineup. We've sort of mentioned it, but we've not really gone further with it. I think when we get to the end of this year we'll probably make some kind of decision."

But Ozzy's first 3 solo albums kills all sabbath and Dio albums dead.

In Oz maybe, not in the real world :Smug: "Heaven And Hell" is the best Sabbath album ever.
Now the hsitorical importance of Ozzy era Sabbath is undeniable. Metal as we know it couldn't be possible without it.

NP: Pink Floyd - 'Echoes'

Personal preferences aside, but Ozzy can barely complete a sentence today and who needs such a frontman for a legendary band like BS?! Dio's older than time itself, but still rocks the house and doesn't make a monkey of himself...

DIO - all the way, without any doubt!

I caught the H&H tour this May in Philly and was stunned at how great Dio sounds. There is no doubt he could continue if Sabbath chose that direction. That being said, I like Dio as a solo artist as well, and will be happy if he just keeps making music.

No one can (well, they shouldn't, at least) argue Ozzy's influences, or the fact that Ozzy / Sabbath helped to create the whole damn genre. For that, if nothing else, Ozzy has his legacy set in stone (or in metal, if you prefer). No one can take that away. However, as Wyvern mentioned, Osbourne has been over for a very long time - although I'll argue with him about the dates - His early albums are legendary, I love The Ultimate Sin, and I think Zakk Wylde's early Ozzy years produced some pretty good music. Still, Ozzy is past tense, and Dio is still out there.
