Swedish death metal "supergroup" BLOODBATH will release its new studio album, "The Fathomless Mastery", on October 6 via Peaceville Records. The band described the upcoming CD as representing "nothing but hateful brutality." Promising its "most crushing production yet," the group's lineup on "The Fathomless Mastery" is the same as that on BLOODBATH's "Unblessing the Purity" mini-CD, which came out in March:

Mikael Åkerfeldt (OPETH) - Vocals
Martin "Axe" Axenrot (OPETH) - Drums
Anders "Blakkheim" Nyström (KATATONIA) - Guitar
Jonas Renkse (KATATONIA) - Bass
Per "Sodomizer" Eriksson (ex-21 LUCIFERS, GENOCRUSH FEROX) - Guitar

BLOODBATH released a live CD/DVD digipack entitled "The Wacken Carnage" on June 2 in Europe and June 24 in the U.S. via Peaceville. The package contains footage of the band's appearance at the 2005 edition of the Wacken Open Air festival.

Commented the group: "Almost three years have passed since this carnage took place in Wacken, but worry not — we were already past our best 'expiration date' back when we started the band, so this concert will consequently prove our old school principled death metal values remain timeless. The elegantly brutal artwork was created by Travis Smith."

Check out a mini-site for "The Wacken Carnage" featuring a video clip from the DVD, a desktop wallpaper and pre-order links to the webstore and iTunes at this location.

OPETH's Mikael Åkerfeldt previously stated about his return to BLOODBATH, "I was slightly 'talked into' coming back but I certainly don't regret it now. Obviously I am busy all the time, both with my family and OPETH, so don't hold your breath for any massively extensive tours, BUT, I do believe we'll do the occasional gigs when the time is right. I was asked to sing on a four-track release the other guys been working with entitled 'Unblessing the Purity' and I have to say it's the best fucking death metal I've heard since 'Domination', and I'm not even counting my own involvement. I just basically did what they wanted me to and it sounds really good! We might record another album as well sometime later..."

Most crushing production yet!!!! :kickass: good news guys :)

I knew something was gonna happen within a few days :)

Wonder why this info was on blabbermouth first.

Exactly what I was thinking. But seeing as I'm gullible with this kind of stuff, I can officially say I'm quite aroused by this

I am pretty stoked about this album. I put UTP in the other day after work and i felt like I was listening for the first time again. I hope the new album is as killer as the past ones if not better!

Fuck I can't wait, this is going to be awesome.

Indeed it will be :kickass:
Btw I'm going to start posting here alot more often. Doesn't seem that active though, do people post alot here?

It's not active like the bigger forums but that's what I like about the bloodbath forum. As it's often been said it is rather "cozy", most the folks here know each other by now and the flaming/asshole population is almost non-existant. There are still quite a few posts every day, especially after any announcement when everyone jumps on the wagon and acts like apes on speed. Complete with foaming mouths... of empty praise... Yes
