bodom getting trendy

I dont think Bodom will necessarily become the next big thing to MTV kids, I just dont see it happening. Like I said, the reason the shirts are there is cos of Century Media.

For all of those who wonder why people hate Hot Topic so much, it is because the stigma that is attached to it. Example. There were two metal stores here in my town, me and my friend ran one, another friend ran an almost exclusive black metal store. Between the both of us we stocked Angra, Gravedigger, Testament, Heavenly, DArkthrone, Meat Shits, Ulver, Meads of Asphodel, Sinergy, Gamma Ray, Sonata ARctica, Children of Bodom, Bathory, Dissection etc. So we had a big variety. I'm sure that if someone walked out of our store and came here telling everyone about the Follow the Reaper longsleeve they bought there no one would complain, because it's a bad ass metal store.

The problem with Hot Topic is its reputation. There isnt anything really metal about it, it has gay ass novelty shirts, the mallcore pants from hell with the 50 fucking pockets, (and chains already on there!), stupid ass goth style clothes, and a fat cunt behind the counter with spiky hair, twelve facial piercings and a Marilyn Manson shirt on. Do you really think these guys are there because they love metal? I worked another job 40 hours a week plus another 25 at the store me and my friend opened, I was dead all that semester in school but I didnt give a fuck I loved metal too much and loved the store. We didnt cater to the MTV crowd, we werent the measuring stick of what was cool or not, we were just fucking metal.

So that's pretty much why people hate Hot Topic.

Wow, I'm 14 and I have a bodom shirt omfg.....but! I didnt get it from hot topic..this means I must not be a poser :Smug:

Like everyone else said, who gives a fuck.

There is at least 20-25 "I'm gonna wear that bands shirt because the logos cool" kids at my school, but I get over it. I know if I just start causing trouble, there will still be more of them, so I don't. I sometimes even try to give them some music to listen to, and they say "You can't understand the vokills", funny because that's the band of the shirt your have on. So I just try to forget about them and think to myself, "I'm the real metal head, they are poseurs...case closed." But I won't judge anyone. Life is too short to stay angry all the time. So fuck it, put some Hatebreeder in your stereo and rock the fuckin' casbah!

The posers will stop when something else becomes "cool" We wont.
Dont give it a second thought.

All it means is more money for the band we love so they can go out, get drunk and write more ass kikcing music.

Same thoughts here...DEATH TO POSERS ! ARRGHH I've talk with many people saying they're huge Bodom fans... didn't have any original CDs and didn't know where they came from (usually they say Sweden...)...In fact they didn't know anything at all ; but I just don't give a fuck about them...they'll find something "cooler" pretty soon I guess.

I remember one time when I had to give a presentation in school and of course my topic was CoB. After I had said all I wanted, I asked if anyone had any questions. The first one was: "How can you like the music when you can't really hear what they're singing?" I just replied: "Well, if you're just listening, you prolly can't understand the vocs, but when you've read them from the booklet a couple of times, you really start to hear it clearly in the music, too."

And a couple of months went by and the guys who had earlier criticized my musical taste, came to school and started listening to Hatebreeder in our classroom with the stereo system we had available for use.

LOL, that situation almost made me burst up from laughter, so I had to run away and go out for a smoke to cool off.

you should've said "america is the only country where music is vocally/lyrically based. all other countries focus on music, especially in metal. it takes more sophisticated people to actually "get" metal since it's more complex than most music. there is a lot of talent behind the songs which is more than i can say for any pop shit that america is saturated with."

I agree.

Sometimes I think you people are more concerned with bullshit like this than you are with the fucking music. Get over it. A bunch of goth kids liking a good band doesn't mean shit, so shut the fuck up and get over it. You elitist fucks. It reminds of that shit some of you say about people not liking Bodom being less intelligent than you. You're no more "true" than anyone else and your taste in music is no better than anyone elses.

I agree with you that pop sucks and has no talent behind it, but if the "more complex than most music" part refers to anything besides pop, hiphop/rap, then i am going to disagree. some people think that metal involves the most talent, but i have seen metal bands that have no talent at all and just suck. I have seen rock bands with more talent than most metal bands. Their is complexity to every genre of music.

I see nothing wrong with going to hot topic and buying a t-shirt. But the problem with hot topic is that the people who shop their are the goth posers and buy the shirts to make them look more goth.

Their is this kid in my school who dresses goth and he is a preppy rich kid. he has this patch on his backpack that says "keep music evil" and he has written in sharpie marker all of the bands he listens to like disturbed, slipknot, etc. He also has chevelle on it and they are a christian band. So i go up to him and ask him why the fuck he has that patch on and also chevelle and hes like i dont know. I hate them fuckin posers :Puke:

those stupid "hot topic" kids are worse in the pits... we all have nothing to prove, they do!

What do they do?

So what if they have a damn shirt at hot topic. As long as their new found popularity isnt effecting their music or their personality then its all good. I'm sure sooner or later those hot topic yuppies will get it through their heads sooner or later that just because they spend mad amounts of money at a store with overpriced clothing doesnt mean they are a true metalhead, punk, goth, or whatever look they're trying to go for. It just makes them look like more of an idiot.

actually the prices arent bad.

I kind of want a shirt to wear to the IE/Bodom concert on the 30th and im going to stop at hot topic to pick one up. O shit, i forgot, i if buy a shirt their i am a poser goth :p

I hate how you people assume someone's a mallcore poseur just because of their age. Just because almost all faggoth's are teenagers, doesn't mean all teenagers (who listen to metal) are faggoth.

No, its just the ones who dress it and are the biggest pussies ever. I myself am i teenager and i listen to metal, but i dont go dressing all black and painting my fingernails and wearing leather and chains that i bought from hot topic. Their is a difference between poser goths and people who listen to metal. I just think some of the clothing these people wear are just rediculous.

I pretty much just listen to the music, wear the band t-shirt once in a while and go to concerts.
