Sorry if this was answerd before but the search button keeps 404'ing me.

Did opeth at one time use a Boss HM-2 pedal? I heard it on the swano board, but i having a hard time believing it.

I use mine for brutal death and 60's fuzz(strange combo yes but it does both very good).

It makes chords very mushy though, not really what opeth was going for i think haha.

Maybe they only used it for some leads? Maybe they used it for just a little bit of coloring? You never know. As far as I know, they always got the bigger part of their distortion sound out of the amplifiers themselves.

Boss HM2 was notably used by bands like Entombed (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jY6sqiA8gj0 )

Yes but they did not use it pure, they had a DS-1 infront of it to make it tighter.

Check out Bloodbath's Ressurrection though carnage album for the pure HM-2 Sound(THat album was recording DI)

Then you will hear what i said haha.

Edit: http://media.putfile.com/BT-01-69 This is a funeral rock/doom song of mine using the HM-2 with eq pedal.

I always loved the Morning rise tones. Maybe after my schooldays are over i can buy the final pieces of gear.
