Which of these two bands is "better"? Is the music the same given Andy Franck sings for both? How do they compare and what's the general opinion between the two?

They remind me of each other, because of Andy's voice obviously, they have a lot of similarities. Both rock hard, Brainstorm is a bit more power, and Symphorce is a bit more prog. I like them both.

To my ears, Brainstorm is heavier and more proggy, while Symphorce is pretty conventional heavy metal. But I think Andy's voice is tested more in Symphorce, while Brainstorm seems more instrumentally talented.

It's hard to really choose one over the other for me. Which is why it's so cool to see one last year and one this year.

IVANHOE! Seriously, I prefer Symphorce as they are more proggy to my ears and thus resemble some of Ivanhoe to a certain degree.

Now, the only other reuinon I would love to see more than Conception would be Ivanhoe. They truly were one of the prog metal greats with their 3 spectacular releases in the 90's. Who knows, Brainstorm last year, Symphorce this year, and Ivanhoe next year??? I know I'm dreaming, but why not.

I definately like Brainstorm better, mainly for Andy's vocals and the amazing guitar work, but Symphorce is a good band for certain. I was fortunate enough to see Brainstorm twice last year, but have only seen Symphorce once very early in their career before they were signed to a label. It will be interesting to see them again.

We'll have to let this thread resurface after the show this year. THEN we can all pass judgement.

From their albums, I'm gonna like the riffs from Brainstorm a little more. I like their tonality and their overall sound. But I really need to go spin Symphorce again just to bleed it into my brain summore, anyways. Heh heh. Now this gives me an excuse!

SYMPHORCE BINGE!!!

Brainstorm is better. The singing is just as off-key in both, but Brainstorm strikes me as more of an "American" power metal band. More rooted in a blues tradition and a little thrashier than most german power metal bands.

I prefer Brainstorm, because they sound more like traditional metal. Symphorce to me sounds like they borderline a very aggresive nu-metal sound! They sound almost too modern for me! Brainstorm's music is just more memorable all in all. There's my two cents...

In case you didn't know, Ivanhoe has released a new album called "Walk in Mindfields". They do have a new singer though.

As for Brainstorm vs. Symphorce...BRAINSTORM!!! I like Symphorce, but Brainstorm is one of the best metal bands overall in my opinion. Aggressive power metal all the way and memorable choruses which make you sing along. Can't wait for the Liquid Monster!!!

I have said this one, but I will say it again one last time.

Daniel and Andy had a good discussion backstage last year and it is now a dead issue betwen them. If it is good enough for them, it is good enough for me. I will not allow this topic to be brought up in my forum. I have already banned someone for breaking the rules after being warned when thier roster announcement was first made. I am not asking anyone to agree with my decision or even like...just respect it.

Mr. Panzer, consider this your warning.

Thank you for the explanation. I was not aware that you had said this already, therefore I did not know about the severity (or lack thereof) of it. I apologize for my words here, and stand corrected...
