hey when i put that exact same settings into revalver my sound is almost clean! whats causing this? ive already tried to raise the input voltage to 3 volts and its not very distorted!

Please help :)

hkollner: Make sure the CRUNCH and BRIGHT switches are on, otherwise it will be clean.

I accidentally deleted the clip off my FTP and instead of putting it back up, I just put the new version up. Czech it. Redid some of the drum parts with the help of my friend. Changed the fast doubles to 16th triplet divisions so it sounds normal now haha. Also spiced up some of the parts. Had a jam session last night at a party thing (I hate parties but they had weed lulz) and tons of new riffs have been written. I think this will be the last clip until I have everything finished :)

I think it's a preference thing, but I will be changing the sound of the kick a little so that may remedy things.

i like that guitar tone and drums. really good man.
do you use greener + 6505´s with those settings in all your tracks?

and...could you share your AD preset?

thanks

Yeah, the chain is guitar -> interface instrument in -> Cubase -> ReValver (Greener -> 6505+ (using Flathill Red tonestack) -> signal splitter (two RIR's, blended 50/50, two different cabs) -> GR8) -> tiny bit of EQ and a Sonalksis multi-band comp now (although I'm on the fence about it) on the track in Cubase and that's it. I'll be able to put the preset up tonight when I get home. I replace the kick 100% with a couple of samples I found on here, they are from a Dissection album, and then a subhit blended as well to beef it up. What I'll do tonight is just make a zip/rar of the presets (MKIII and AD) and the samples and a screenshot or two of the guitar bus EQ. To be honest I'm quite surprised at the responses I've gotten, haha, but I'm glad people are diggin' it.

oh my god!! that would be awesome.
i am waiting...:D

Haha, couldn't get to it last night, actually had to play bass in a friend's band last minute, was a cool show though. Nothing going on tonight though, it shall be done!

Ok, here's the zip. It has both normal kick samples, the subhit sample that I blend into the kick, a shot of the kick's track with EQ, the ReValver screenshot in this thread, the guitar bus shot with the EQ, a shot of the Sonalksis DQ1 on the guitar bus acting like a C4 and also the AD preset.

incredible man!!thanks a lot, i'll be trying your settings as soon as i can.;)
one question, for drums, do you only use kick replace and nothing more? post-process all in AD preset inclued?

and...for apply apTrigga...first, you insert MIDI drum track in your DAW and apply AD.
then, you create blank audio track and apply apTrigga inserts.
finally, duplicate midi track and choose AD to apTrigga. (the same with drumagog).
do you make this process to use apTrigga or Drumagog??
Because if i apply directly, with fast hits sound terrible.

thanks again,

I load AD in my VST Instuments panel and set it to use multi-out this way Cubase creates audio tracks for each output of AD. Then I make a MIDI track and set it's output to go into AD. Then in AD I set the kick to go out to the audio track. On that audio track I have the first apTrigga using the Dissection kick samples, use the settings from that picture. Then I have a 2nd apTrigga with the subhit, use the settings from that picture. Using those settings it should be perfectly fine, if you remember the first clip I posted it had some ridiculously fast double-bass parts, but apTrigga triggers just fine.

I think I may make a quick Jing video of me setting it up, would be easier than typing and it will give me a chance to use Jing :)

You will need to have an FLV/SWF player (Wimpy, etc.) to view this video. Here it is.

thanks for video.:D:D
i make that too...midi track with AD output and then, i use indiviual AD tracks to apply apTrigga or Drumagog, but...here begins my problem:
if i make that...in fast snare hits, for example, appTrigga sound terrible, and with kick, sometimes too...

i have to create additional midi track, create blank audio track with appTrigga and then, in midi track ouput, that appTrigga...

is that correct?

Well, I have never had a single piece of audio that I couldn't get apTrigga to trigger properly with. You just have to adjust the settings until it works. Very rarely I will encounter something that's poorly recorded, in which case I put a transient plug like Stillwell's Transient Monster on the track before apTrigga to bring up the transients of it, then adjust APT and it's done.

However, if you are unable to find the correct settings then yes, making a dedicated snare MIDI track and pointing that to apTrigga is fine...there is no "right" or "wrong" way of doing things when it comes to the topic at hand really.
