How did everyone find tickets so cheap? I went on to Kayak.com which searches both Orbitz and Cheap Tickets and the Cheapest I found from Phoenix to GLA was $1,100 USD per person! I tried from LAX to GLA and LAX to Heathrow or Gatwick and neither was cheaper.
I am taking one of my bands (We Are They http://www.myspace.com/wearethey) on tour to the UK next fall. So anything I save is gravy since I have to buy 6 damn tickets!!
Maybe its the time of year thats killing me...

Sounds like you're looking for a flight with prime time flight times. If you're flexible on dates, try that. Tues/Wed/Thur are usually the cheapest days while Fri/Sun are most expensive, of course holiday times are raised too. I picked random dates for phx to gla and saw them as low as low 600s (which isn't bad). You're searching with good search tools. I use those kinds of search tools to find the cheapest flights I want, then I always go to the airlines website to buy the ticket since it's a few dollars cheaper. Another website I look at is travelzoo.com. They don't really search, rather they show you who has good deals.
Oh, one other thing, try the flex date option if they have it. It'll usually show a calender month with the price for everyday on it. Strangely, most don't offer it when it's an international flight, but Kayak does.

What dates were you finding for $600???
I need to get there in early August (as early as say the 3rd) and can leave late August (no earlier than the 24th) I plan on starting the tour on the 6th and ending it on the 23rd.

I picked random midweek dates, I think it was Jan 20 & 28, I even saw one for Dec 25 & 30. There were several dates showing prices in the $600 range. If you're searching for dates in August, that's way too far away right now. What I've noticed is that airlines post their high prices for flights that are atleast 4-6 months away. Usually around 2-4 months before the flight is when I see them post cheaper prices. Check yourself for flights that are about two months away, you'll see cheaper prices. An August flight to the UK is also the peak of summer travel. It will be tougher to find a cheap price and you may not find it as low as $600, but I do think you can find a cheaper price than $1100 you're finding. When you find a cheap flight, jump on it, don't hesitate because it probably won't last long at the low price. Around April/May, start checking for August flight prices, use that flex date option. Also check http://www.travelzoo.com. Since you plan to be there a while, you may consider flying into London which is generally always cheaper to fly into and certainly more deals given here, then drive up. Just a thought.

Thanks man! Great Advice! I did find some tickets as low as $680 each, but that was in November.

Really??? One of my best friends is a HUUUUUUUGE fan of theirs. They're a Welsh rock band. I like quite a few of their songs - 4am Forever, Last Summer and A Town Called Hypocrisy to name a few. I'll have to tell her to look out for your band supporting them.

I finally saw Rob Roy. In it Liam Neeson mentioned Crieff twice. And 4 years after that movie, he appeared in a film with Crieff's most famous former resident.

I think the tentative date just now is May and the heat was one thing that I did think about. It can't be helped tho so I'm sure I'll survive.
I just about survived Italy in the height of summer so as long as it's not 35c and humid, then it'll be just dandy! Similar threads
