Personally, i love the artwork/logo for most brutal death metal bands ... cant let stuff like that bother you. Instead, let the music paint the picture for you.

I agree. One of my favorite covers right now is Putridity's latest album. Let's not forget that the art work makes awesome fucking t-shirts too.

Well that's different. That's fucking epic, LOL. And it's less "pointless gore" and more "horror".

Although I admit the album itself kinda grew stale after a handful of spins, but I still definitely dig it.

That was an ok album. Production was really annoying though, especially those bass drops. :/

I was hoping there would be more discussion of this album. Inhuman Devoured Content From Cranial Cavity is a bad-ass album, regardless of how it was made. I too was annoyed at first by the bass drops/bombs, especially on track 4, Butchered Maggoty Face. But once I was able to hear continuity in the song from before and after the drops, they became tolerable, even fun. Depth of Perverse Depravity is one of the heaviest fucking songs I have heard in the last few years. And you got to love the guttural and "cricket" vocals.

These are fairly unrelated to slam. Still, very good old school death metal.

In honesty a lot of that list entails horrible demo recordings of decent or better old school death metal with slam elements, fair warning to someone interested in checking it out.

Necrony - Pathological Performances is definitely not brutal/slam, just brilliant swe-death. I love that album.

In fairness, "slam" was pretty much in its fetal stage before 2000. Finding anything before then is gonna amount to, largely, demo recordings and good ol' BDM.
