Brutal/Slam Death Metal

I was just listening to Vulvectomy, and realized that I find mediocre slam utterly boring. Good slam is great stuff, though. Blasty, chaotic bdm isn't quite as boring if mediocre. Anyone got any good recs for blasturbation style bdm?

Wormed is my favorite. But they are not very accessible, and probably not a good choice for trying to get into slam. I suggest you start with Soils of Fate. They are definitely slam, and definitely accessible.

So, "brutal slam death" is what the kids are calling it now?

Did you notice that there is a slash in the thread title?

"Brutal/Slam Death Metal"

Scientists have discovered that the use of this particular slash implies that the thread is about both brutal death and slam death, both of which are metal subgenres

Glad to be of service :Smokedev:

Yeah the 'ol "HAHA WHAT ABOUT BRUTAL RAISIN BUTTHUMP GRINDRIFF METAL!" subgenre bitchery is outdated and lame. It's really pretty goddamn straightforward assuming you actually listen to the (sub)genre in question; obviously, it sounds needlessly specific to an outsider, but so, for example, do medical terms.

Of course then there's Carcass, their medical terms really are just made up. I guess that's the metaphorical equivalent of Dragonforce declaring themselves "extreme power metal."

:ill:

It's all metal to me. :Smug:
Well, Judas Priest sounds nothing like Morbid Angel, yet both are metal. Death metal doesn't sound like black metal. And to a death metal fan, Deicide sounds a lot different than Devourment. Human Rejection (slam) sounds different than Deeds of Flesh, but both play brutal death. This is where the definition of slam comes in.
