Burning Masters

OK, so I've heard that when you make the final mixdown after mastering that you don't burn to a CDR, you burn to a different type of disc. My question is what type of disc is it? Because any cd you buy plays on all systems but CDR's dont play on older systems. Am I way off or is this true? Thanks

You have to burn it to Redbook standards. That is the standard that every CD drive is suppose to handle.

thnx, i knew redbook but i didnt realize that was the thing that made it work on all cd players, that answers my question
