Bush's speech full of shit

What a fucking idiot.

Who were the great rulers of Iraq before Saddam?

I love the part about how they don't have to live in fear of Saddam..

No, now they can just worry about 50-60 years of bombings and insurging terrorists that will flood the country. What's going on now will continue and now the country will just be a war torn country that is occupied by foreign military.

Now that Saddam has been captured, all foregin militaries and governing bodies will leave ASAP, and Iraq will eventually fall under rule of some radical Islamic leader along the lines of the Ayatollah. (I doubt if martial law will take affect again - another dictatorship is unlikely).

Of course, the reconstruction companies like Haliburton will milk it for what it's worth before they have to bail.

If we've already let Afghanistan fall into disarray (not keeping a single promise to help them rebuild), then this will be much worse. Baghdad will become like Beirut of the 80's - guerilla warfare, radical sect uprisings etc.

I also doubt if any arab groups give a shit about Saddam. I think the one thing he was honest about was that he never had ties to Al Queda or Osama Bin Laden. If this was Osama being captured and being prepared for trial, then organizations would probably start reacting through more hijackings, bartering for the release of their leader, but nobody will fight for Saddam.

Bin Laden is smiling too, he hates Saddam. That's why I'll never understand how the two would be connected, Bin Laden looks at Saddam's regime the same (or at least similar) as America: a secular heathen system.

A large fation of Iraqis have wanted an Islamic style government similar to Iran since Saddam lost power. So be it, if that's the will of the people.

I expect there'll be many people making noise about how great it is that Saddam is gone, and not realising the whole bullshit behind the war in the first place. Let's face it, Saddam was never a problem to us, people just think he is cos they were told so last year  One of my mates goes today "The world will be a better place now" and I'm thinking NO IT BLOODY WON'T!!!!! It'll be exactly the same for us as it was before, except we'll still be seeing obituaries for our soldiers for the foreseeable future...

There's a documentary TV program here called 48 Hours. It's really good and they did a piece recently on our soldiers in combat in Iraq. The sad part is, although we hear about casualties on a daily basis, we never hear about the wounded guys - you know, the thousands of our troops who have lost their sight, limbs, become permanently paralyzed confined to a wheelchair etc in suicide bombings, landmines, pipe bomb explostions, molotov cocktails, and what not.

And then there are the guys who've had nervous breakdowns, can no longer function whatsoever, paranoid schizophrenics, manic depressives, and so on. The whole thing is pretty messed up because most of them just want to come home now.

Agreed, hard to be too optimsitic about his capture when you consider the fact that the country is in ruins and many of its people believe that they were better off under Saddam than our occupation. Democracy has about as much chance of flourishing in Baghdad as Bush has of getting my vote.

he's a cowardly fuck.

omg this is priceless:

Both Bennett and CNN's David Ensor said their sources report that Saddam was giving rote answers to the questions, or answering with nationalist and patriotic rhetoric.

"For example," Bennett said, "he was offered a glass of water, and Saddam said, 'Well, if I take that glass of water I will have to urinate, and if I have to urinate, I will have to go to the bathroom, and how can I possibly go to the bathroom when my people are enslaved?'"

Haha, that does sound like something Saddam would say. What a wacko. He had a pretty kickass beard for a bit though.

I always wondered what the mind would become after being holed up for so long. The man is even more delusional now that he's been sleeping in a tomb.

I take what journalists have to report with a grain of salt. I've always loved the term "sources." Sources tell us this, sources report that...

Remember, this is all going to benefit the coward in power. Mr. my dad will pay for me to go into the National Guard and avoid being sent off to fight. He sure doesn't have any problem sending others off. One of my coworkers just had to leave because she will be busy being a target for snipers while taking soil samples of war torn areas.

Just like Clinton, how can the military respect this asshole?

He needs for the American people to see Saddam as still standing up to the international community, so that he may be deamed a threat. What makes me sick to my stomach is that I hear they are giving up the hunt for WMD. Isn't that what all of this was about? No, it was about forceably removing someone from power that Bush didn't want to be in power.

Sick.

Heehee, yeah I noticed that the other day. "That's Mr. Beard to you, son..."

I need some ZZ Top dammit.
