gah, even though i hardly write anymore, i'd feel totally immobilized if i couldn't use my dominant hand for that long, even for simple tasks.

I don't think a 'disability' claim is applicable unless it is because of an injury that occurred on the job, unless you have extra insurance like AFLAC. Although, that's just how it is here in Washington. I'm sure B.C. is different but kind of the same.
