Ok so I just bought this earlier in the month and have been trying to get it set up properly.

Thing is, I have very little experience with string thru bodies, neck thru guitar maintenance, and setting the intonation on a stop tail gibson style bridge. I've been fucking with it, making minor adjustments, but it still seems to have a bit of variance. I want to make sure it's set up properly, to a point where it plays well and the longevity of the guitar will be enhanced rather than compromised. Should I just fucking take it to somebody who knows what they're doing, or should I keep scouring the internet for how to's on intonation setting and tension adjustments.

I'm paranoid about fucking up my new axe :eyeroll: I'm a perfectionist, but also a neurotic do-it-yourselfer. Which way should I swing on this one? Anyone have good advice for this guitar or adjustments on the truss and bridge for intonation?

find the best Guitar Luither you can afford, that has done work for people you know and give it to them, I recently bought an Ibanez RG 3120 and it was unplayable until I had the set up done, nows it is the best guitar I've ever used.

Its a real shame these days that shops just wack the guitars up, without any setup, the same with the factories - yep that looks like a guitar, sell it

If you in Melbourne Australia - Real Guitars in Glen Iris does the best sets ups

I've heard some guys complaining about Real Guitars on local forums, Skyweaver. Others recommend them really highly.

I personally got a set up by Jim Matheas in Fitzroy. Great set-up but extremely expensive as well.

I've yet to find a place that does a decent job but doesn't eat into half my bank account to boot.

Nice to see some things haven't changed in Melbourne.....I remember getting bent over (figuratively) any time I wanted to either buy or get gear setup virtually anywhere I went. The only nice & talented bloke I found used to run the Music Swap Shop in Carlton. That was many moons ago though....

That's the thing, I'm sure with a little bit of dedication I could come near to a professional setup, it would just take a lot of fucking time. At the same time if I could save some of that time for oh say... 60-80 bucks it might be worth it. I just need someone who will actually do a good job, because I hate being screwed out of 80 bucks.

Honestly it plays great, I'm just concerned about slight backbow of the neck, intonation, and slight buzz on the lowest string as a result of the backbow (which is near imperceptible).
