Have not noticed a thread about Cakewalk's announcement of Sonar X2 so figured I'd make a quick post to let those interested in Sonar that it's coming.

http://cakewalk.com/SONAR-X2/

Some of the announced features sound like great additions and improvements on the already excellent tool that Sonar X1 has become with the various version updates and components that have been added since it's release.

Here is a link to the Cakewalk Blog and their Sonar X2 Feature Peek post - love the sounds of the new FX Chains including the Pro-Channel modules and all third party plugins. While I understand to some it may seem like just another FX Bin, the current FX Chains 2.0 is powerful as is, but with the new ability to mix and match 3rd party plugins and the Pro-Channel modules and the "Mod Matrix" (a user can map controls from multiple plugins to single controls in the FX Chain window so one knob will control multiple parameters across different plugins) it really sounds like some very creative results will be possible.

No release date has been announced yet, but they have released very competitive upgrade pricing for current Cakewalk users. They also have a deal going that if you buy/upgrade to Sonar X1 they will include the upgrade to X2 for free when it is released.

I just recently upgraded to Producer expanded and everything has been working great. X2 looks like it has a lot of cool new features, but I will wait until they work out all the bugs, just like I do with every new version.

New Cakewalk Blog post on the new R-Mix feature: http://blog.cakewalk.com/sonar-x2-feature-peek-r-mix-sonar-video/

What is R-Mix: (Quoted from the blog post)

What is R-MIX?

Technically speaking it is an audio manipulation plugin that is powered by Roland’s newly developed V-Remastering technology in conjunction with VariPhrase — lets you see the components of a stereo mix as color-coded clouds of energy and harmonic matter as the track plays. Speaking as a musician, the only way I can describe it is by calling it “visual sound,” and it is truly impressive as well as creative.

If anyone is interested - Brandon and Seth from Cakewalk did a WEBinar this week where they demonstrated a bunch of the new features and capabilities of Sonar X2. It's an hour and half long, but it does show many of the new and improved items. Well worth the watch if you want to see what Cakewalk is bringing to Sonar X2.
