The Sonar users like myself out there have been waiting patiently for Cakewalk to announce the next version of their DAW software - unlike years past, the fall came and almost went without an announcement. Well we wait no longer - Sonar X1 is here.

Dropping the current Sonar 8.5.x nomenclature they are going with a new X1 designation. I'm still looking over all the new features, but figured I'd post the announcement here and links to the details for those interested.

I know not a whole lot of Sonar users around here, but I've already bought into these magic beans so I'm sure I'll upgrade.

Wondering how this free upgrade is going to work since i am an 8.x owner

I have a feeling that for both of us the upgrade will cost $99.00.

What? No floating windows mess all over the screen? This feature alone makes me want to check it out.

And OF COURSE, the marketing department insisted on those SSL-style knobs...
