can an interface fire up passive monitors?

i just got my hands on these bad boys http://control-sound.com/shop/images/RSM-90.jpg RSM-90

they are passive so i need an amp to drive them.

I have a line6 toneport ux2 with 1/4 analog outs can i use an instrument 1/4 cable then strip the 1/4 tip off and just use the end as speaker wire and just connect the stripped wires to the the monitor?

Or will i need an amp to fire up the monitors?

no, you need an amp

No offense but, but what do you think the amp is for? An adaptor so you don't have to strip a cable? You need the amp to power the monitors Sherlock.
