Can I discuss Bloodbath here. Just for a moment, come on...

The first BB song I heard was The Ascension, from Nightmares Made Flesh, and although its a killer tune, I though the drums were a wee bit sloppy, and particularly uninteresting. Found out that this guy was the new Opeth drummer, replacing personal fave Lopez, and thought "thats a shame". Then I downloaded (and subsequently bought, don't worry) Unblessing The Purity, and the drum tracks are AMAZING!! How the fuck did Axe get so good, I mean a real difference in quality in just a few years? My praise goes out to him, he's incredible. Any thoughts?

A similar story is handed around where I live. There was an accordion master, dead now, that started out as a failure roaming the land and looking for a teacher. He would often stop to check himself into an Inn run by a fellow named Matthias Åkerfeldt. Not much is known, but eventually the mysterious proprietor sat and had a drink or two with the accordion player. Overnight, he went from would-be pupil to master.

We don't know exactly what happened, but it's got something to do with the Åkerfeldt family. The truth is out there.

I have to say I found the new EP to be pretty boring, but the drum tracks and vocals were definitely tight.

Breeding Death and Resurrection Through Carnage have Dan Swano drumming.
Nightmares Made Flesh and Unblessing The Purity have Axenrot drumming.

Regardless of what albums he played on, I have to say that, for me, UTP is a step ahead for Bloodbath. The drumming is insane, the vocals are great, and overall I feel that it's a tighter package than previous releases. It might have something to do with the fact that I'm not really a Death Metal fan, so I have a hard time appreciating the uber fast stuff on the first two releases. Which I guess is "more" DM. On UTP I think they have a great balance between speed and groove. Lightning fast blast beats over not quite as fast riffs if you know what I'm talking about. I'm really looking forward to a full length release from this line-up. It ought to be amazing.

I agree with everything you just said.:p I love the new EP.

I would even go as far to say that 'Unblessing The Purity' is the best material I have ever heard from supergroup Bloodbath...
