Sometimes I feel like being a bit stoned during certain parts of the mixing and editing process can be helpful. However, it is not always the best state of mind to be in. How do yall feel? I definitely get an additional "creative type" vibe from smoking the ganja that can be extremely helpful. Thoughts?

Haha. That is a solid ass point and i agree fully. Rock music was born out of stoned blues musicians who didnt give a fuck, then developed a million times over, etc

Smoking some grass really helps me with the subtle parts of mixing and editing. I usually make my final mix decisions when sober, but I do the majority of the work leading up to that point quite fucking high. I may be different from some, but I definitely have a greater appreciation of the way everything sounds when I am a little stoned. I have actually smoked weed for long enough to know the frequency spectrum and also the dynamic feel that it exaggerates (to me) so I can mix accordingly.

The other day.
Listening to music.
Fuuuuuuu.
Could pick out EVERYTHING.
Realized things I never have.
Learnt things I never have.

I say yes.
If you are in a focusing mood while doing it.

Such a bad idea ! Thing's sound way better stoned :Smokin:

Bad decisions will be made for sure , a sober mind is much more capable .

yeah..

I say smoke a little before you listen to your work again as a whole when the band is gone and you have given your ears some time to rest.
Make sure you're not gonna do any more work after that.

Your mind is probably more chaotic, your actions slower and your attitude milder...

We want SSofficers behind the desk goddamnit.
Not some failed hippes with their mind's supposedly open.......HA....so far open it fold back in on itself.:loco::loco:

Im recently trying to kick the habbit it's hard being all healthy.

But.....most of the music i wrote and love the most was written high/drunk///ccombiticket............................
................never tried writing music with shrooms......Imagine... :Shedevil:

I do it every now and then. Sometimes it helps and sometimes it really doesn't. I was mixing a little 3 song demo cd for a band and decided to smoke before starting. Everything sounded so sweet. I checked it out the next day. There was not 1 sweet thing about any of it and I just sat there wondering wtf I was thinking while I was stoned. My notes didnt even make sense.

Hahahaha, yeah, I hear that - my experience has been as the OP mentioned about recognizing frequencies that are exaggerated whilst high, except that I wasn't able to (and probably won't, as I've pretty much stopped blazing, at least whilst home), so I would always just vacuum out most of the upper mids simply because of the ear fatigue of aided senses, only to discover the next day that I had gone way overboard. Ditto with editing, weed kinda makes me lose a "big picture" sense and just zero in way too much on the micro instead of macro, definitely a workflow impediment - in closing, listening whilst high is truly transcendent (you really do pick out so much more, it amazes me how I would listen to songs high that I had heard thousands of times sober, and for the first time understand lyrics I had never been able to before), but mixing/editing I'll pass on

I produce and make tunes with my mates all the time when I'm stoned. I don't feel it troubles me in any way, but I'd never ever blaze in front of a client unless they suggest it.

Playing guitar and producing is way harder on chemical drugs. Watching someone play guitar on ketamine is like watching a 4 year old child trying to wire up the space station. Entertaining but ultimately a failure.

So some of you guys need help to do your job properly? sad to hear tbh^^
Same for musicians that aren't creative without some...
I never understood it, weed never did much for me...but so does alkohol, apart from passing time at festivals.
I'm old.
