yes, most of us have spent hours shuffling thru all the cool vids on google, my fav's have to be the Al di Meola and Shawn Lane stuff...

That mario thing is pretty crap. He's soooo off beat.

If I were to have one guess how he gets his sound I'd say its the mid-point of some sort of wah pedal .

wah pedal? no way, it sounds almost MIDI, especially the 5th fret harmonics. just like the video game which is what impressed me, not the playing..Id almost have to say pitch shifter w/flange...

Come on now, shredding on a bass is even cooler than a guitar. When I saw him perform with Vai last year in Boston, he fucking kicked so much ass. He played so fast that his volume knob popped off and flew somewhere around the 3rd or 4th row in during his solo. My friend also got his strings from the night before...

Ha, that does rock but to me shredding on a bass is just a novelty, its cool and all but shredding sounds best on a guitar. But jesus christ check out paul gilberts solo from a Mr. Big show in Tokyo in 99, i'd post the link but im too lazy, just search it on google video

I always just thought that was a guy playing (without the audio) along to a recording (it sounds like yngwie, but i haven't heard the recording of this song, outside of the video). But I never thought the lead guitar sound was actually his.
