Car CD Deck

okay you homos...
In my effort to make the Lincoln even more pimpable, I'm seriously considering getting a CD player installed at Best Buy this friday.

I won't be spending a fuckton of money and I'm not a freak audiophile…but…

Are there any particular brands I should AVOID

~and~

Are there any particular features you guys are proponents of?

So far the only "must" for me is a detachable faceplate to deter theft attempts.

I've always had great luck with Panasonic products, including an offroad specific CD deck that I still have sitting in my closet, waiting for the next time I get a 4WD.

I am definitely a proponent of a working CD player, and I'd have to say a volume control is my favorite feature.

volume control is a good one, but i gotta say PLAY BUTTON wins it for me

MP3 is def. a feature I'm going to be interested in, because I can download a shitload of Phil Hendrie show stuff and burn like a months worth to one disc.
mixed car cd-r's with ~150 songs is a REALLY GOOD THING TO HAVE on the road. just stick them on random and you have like 10+ hours worth of music without having to change discs

I like the kind that still support a cassette tape. Gotta be able to play the noltem demo.
hahaha dude that is totally the ONLY tape I ever listen to in my CD-changer tape deck equipped stock Subaru 6-speaker stereo system.

PS: my stereo isn't exactly good in terms of sound quality but it doesn't matter because I generally have the windows down and the car is loud as fuck at most speeds anyhow.

I used to the "look how cool I am carrying my detached face in a sack" thing and feel like an idiot, so eventually I just started detaching the face and tossing it in my glovebox, haha.

I'm glad mine doesn't have that bullshit anymore, if someone is going to take it, just take it and leave the rest of my car alone kthxplz.

doesn't seem that car radio theft is an issue any longer ... now they just steal your xenon's :loco:

liz, I would say pretty much any car radio is good nowadays, just make sure its not a reall cheapy one ... anythinng around $150 and up should have all the features you need.

although I heard some not so favorable things about JVC units.

OK I settled for a 135 dollar thing with free installation, I'm at BB right now.

After a 10 % off coupon.
CD/mp3/wma capable with a cable if I want to expand my XM to my car.

Also just bought the Lanegan/Campbell cd for test purposes

hahah ... cool ... spoken like a true technophobe  ... no brand or anything ...
so what did you get?
