it was once said (maybe someone can find out by who) something along the lines of "musicians who only listen to music in the genre they play are like animals in the zoo eating only their own shit"

my friends say all i listen to is metal...i do listen to a lot but unless you count rush, grateful dead, smashing pumpkins, tom petty, hendrix, mars volta, coma lilies, tiger army, rhcp, queen, and the clash as metal...

besides, there's lots of diversity in metal, perhaps more than any other genre. what other genre will you find bands as diverse as opeth, venom, iron maiden, and my dying bride? finntroll and agalloch? cannibal corpse and sonata arctica? come on!

music thats not heavy metal is pretty cool too, you should check it out sometime.
I can appreciate other music but I wouldn't buy it. It doesn't give me the same emotional satisfaction as metal does. And I don't really care if people think I've got a one-track mind regarding music.

well, im not saying anything is wrong with it...but its hard for me to think that a band like Dimmu Borgir can bring you "emotional satisfaction".

i think theres lots of non metal you could appreciate and feel was worth buying if you gave it an honest chance.
