I did this for a local band
I put together all the clips for a 1 hour set in Final Cut, synced up to all the band's songs from the set bounced down from Pro Tools. Just some time lapse and cool abstract stuff to provide another visual element. They play to a click live since they have backing tracks so it made it pretty easy. The projector sat on the drum riser, pointed up at the projection screen, and the video was run from a Macbook. I was running FOH, so the video was controlled by the drummer. He started the Pro Tools session and the video at the same time.
