I've recorded several records with my Oktava mk220 (same as 319 but with selectable pattern type). Got it used for $150. Lacks high end clarity a little, but suits well for agressive harsh and sibilant vocals.
I don't know much, but I know enough to say that a Studio Projects b1 will not cut it at all for anything close to aggressive. I suggest that you either save the cash for a SM7b or use a regular SM57 or SM58 if you can't afford it. They all have very similar (if not the same) capsules and sound pretty close to each other.
The reason I am weighing in on this is that I have recorded heavy vocals in the past with a SM57 because the b1 wasn't cutting it at all. I have since saved money in order to buy a SM7b, which is not that expensive considering how useful it is.
Wait, is an SM7b not an option then? like out of price range? A 58 works in a pinch if I can't get an SM7b, but honestly for aggressive male vocals if you're not using an SM7b you're probably doing your job wrong - the next best option tends to be 3-4x the price at least. (I really fucking love the SM7b)
