Last evening I felt like doing some music, so I sat down and started composing.. and stayed up all night working on this track.

Ahh, welcome back! It's just been me, Hannu and Unhallowed lately, I think.

I'll grab it and come back a bit later for comments. Nice description, I'm starting to be in the mood for evening music after a hellish exam. Hope I won't fall asleep listening to it though.
By the way, any Finns coming to rock hard and ride free to Judas Priest tomorrow?

As a sidenote, you guys have a yet unnamed Finnish brother band lurking on the boards now (me and StorTroll)!

Hmm, that song I posted is very piano - based. It starts with piano and strings, takes a turn into something that reminds me of some classical piano composition, followed by some Moby-esque mellow stuff. Then it's all piano again with a Diabolical Masqueradesque part (including the only drums). Ought to suit your "evening mood."

Ehh...hardly, seeing this thing began last week... . As for now, just us two massive Opeth fans trying to get their stuff together, but it seems really great!

Are you both playing guitars?

Do you guys ever lurk around in Corner Bar or R.C.M? When we find some extra cash (heh, us poor unemployed wankers) we could hook up with you guys for a pint or ten. I wouldn't mind meeting fellow Opethians.

Ambienty goodness. The heavier drums remind me of Thales when they come in (around 4:00 - just cause they have the same sound, I suppose). The opening is definately my favourite part, tho, with the rain sound and the strings. Very beautiful.

Good to see you around! I did actually end up picking up the POD and have had some fun messing around with it. I recorded a bunch of little things and then slapped them meaninglessly together in a wandering little file, but don't have anywhere to post it right now.

without even noticing it!
At 4:50 it sounds a bit thin though,

Thanks! Definitely guitars, I guess I forgot to say that. By the way, in case you know of a bassist or a drummer interested in Opeth-style music...

I'm in for a night out, when I find some time! Damn exams. We'd have to arrange something later this month for instance. So far I've had only pleasant experiences about people into Opeth.

Priest was excellent, even more so at the front row! Sadly there weren't too many people present (absolutely no rush to the front until the show started, we got there easily), but it didn't seen to matter. Painkiller was definitely one of the highlights of the show, complete with the Harley! I love their guitar antics and both Tipton and Downing looked really enthusiastic. Ripper did a near-perfect Halford imitation, if you didn't look at him you could picture Rob singing!

Too many new songs somewhat ruined it for me, but the classics more than covered up for that, so no big deal. Luckily they didn't play any of their more embarrassing songs from the past either. I like a great deal of their early stuff, but some of it...blah.

Uh, I really wish I knew myself! I have so many things going on I'm having trouble keeping up to them, but as soon as I find some spare time I'll try to convernt more concepts from my pool of emotions into music.

Yeah, I used the same samples, 'cause they're the most "metal" drum samples I could find in a few minutes.

I'm happy to be around again. In fact, when I was working on that track I was semi-consciously doing it for all you guys here on the Opeth forum. I just didn't know it until I posted it here.

Maybe. Ill be uploading a few of the older songs once my friends have finished dloading the current ones (slow bastards!!), but yeh if im allowing any of you people to download my music then i'll put the link in my sig. (wont be creating any new threads about my music for a while or people will get annoyed!!). So keep an eye on my little sig.

I do have two new songs underway though. One is a completely new song (more Opethy, gonna have flowing heavy bits), the other is a collection of a billion little 1 minute guitar pieces ive done over the past 2 years, itll be more like a collection of ideas rather than a song (about 10 minutes worth, many different genres, all acoustic/orchestrated) but yeh, both of these will be recorded and uploaded when done because they arent for my band.


But im too excited about hearing new Thales songs to worry about my own music right at the moment though!!! Once i hear them i shall be inspired though.

Yeah, I've been working on a new ambient track lately.. the progress has been really slow, unfortunately. :/

Seeing this damn old thread still alive gave me a bit of a boost, though. I'm more than happy to see that people do like my little delusion.
