Classics Reborn

It's funny how the 'go to' thing these days is to blame people for only reading headlines. Anyone whose been on the net more than 5 minutes know what click bait is and knows how to avoid it, yet we apparently all still only see the headline when it comes to people like KK being 'misunderstood'.

The clickbait headlines are often funny but if he can't see that people are reacting to the words beyond that headline then he's extremely blind. Almost like he's only reading the headline himself.

Damn, I made the mistake of going back to read the comments on the KK article today. I think KK actually proved his point. The number of fuckwits on that site who still think he's innocent and that JP should forgive and forget is fucking amazing. It's only right to give KK his dues as the guitarist for one of the most influential bands of the last 50 years but the number of people that see that and think it excuses him from everything he's said is amazing, it's like they only read headlines.

Exactly. And the headline only covers one percent of the asinine things he says. It all goes far beyond any headline.

I'm probably slightly bias in that I do believe KK has brought a lot of this shit on himself, but to me the people who are ignoring the story and focusing on the headlines only are the ones on Blabber sticking up for him.

Lol, doesn't seem to matter what he says. These people will follow him to hell...just not his golf course.
This doesn't really matter. But I couldn't tell you one thing KK has written. I have no idea. And I'm only influenced by Priest by degrees of separation lol. If I came up with some riff that sounded like old JP I'd throw it away. Unless it's from Painkiller. But I didn't grow up with them. Just heard the few songs the radio plays. So take my opinion with a grain of salt lol. I just don't get the hero worship. I'd understand it with Glen much more.

Haha, maybe metalheads just aren't golfers :)

I don't really understand the hero worship, he's good at what he does but he is far from the only guy who can play a guitar. Between him and the rest of the band they played a big role in what metal became, but I don't worship Rob or anyone else in the band because of it. I still like to put on old JP from time to time and while there is plenty of songs I don't care about there is a lot I do like, but I still wont worship any one of them because of that music.

It's not biased. We didn't make this shit up. He said it!

I was thinking that my thoughts against Blabber commentors being dickheads were slightly bias because I still think KK is the one mostly in the wrong and they are defending him blindly. But even if it is bias I still think the majority of those commentors are dickheads.

I understand inspiring younger people to pick up the guitar. But I don't hear any bands writing music that actually sounds like JP. For me his influence only goes so far.

I think the influence of JP as a whole is a lot bigger than the influence of any one member. But the dual guitar flamboyance on stage was the sort of thing some 80's bands did follow. The image of KK and Glen on stage doing the dual headbang thing was emulated by quite a few people. I'm not entirely sure thats an influence but it did happen (and Gene and Paul probably invented in anyway :) )

Oh they are for sure :p

There was one comment from Diana (something) with the eye as her avatar which claims Americans can't understand more than one sentence at a time and that her lengthy posts should be read over time. If these idiots aren't there for comic relief I really don't know what they are there for.

Sorry it took me awhile to read that as it was more than sentence :tickled:

Lol, she's relentless. She feels the need to attack each and every post that doesn't say KK is a godlike genius. But she'll call other people fan boys lol.

I think they had more influence on the glam rock scene than metal in respect to the way they headbanged side to side and those outfits. I do get the twin guitars though. Although I kinda think Maiden is more copied in that area.
Edit: I could also see more straight metal bands like WASP or Quit Riot borrowing their look and headbanging.

Is. This. Any. Easier. To. Read? :)

The weird thing about some of her comments is that sometimes I wonder if she remembers which side she is on. She's undoubtedly KK's love child and feels the need to stick up for him but at times I think even she forgets that mid sentence then finds her way back to the praise by the time she gets to the end of the same sentence.

Yeah thats probably right. There was flare about JP when they played live and that flare was more suited to glam rock and heavy metal than thrash and speed. I also think that the riff/guitar god like influence came more from the fact that people like Kerry King who does cite KK as a huge influence grew up before there was bands playing thrash and speed and KK and Glen were two of the heaviest players of the time. You then get the flow on effect of people who are influenced by Kerry and therefore claim to be influenced by KK. It may not happen with everyone but I guess it could explain some of the KK worship.
