Classics Reborn

Ok you outed yourself as a bad Overkill fan now it's my turn to do the same.

Why is it that I've always thought the Fight Song (bonus track on White Devil Armory) was a cover? I've read the liner notes many times, I'm sure I have, but I've heard the song several times recently and each time I was convinced it was a cover until I read today that it was written by Carlos Verni and Robert Joseph Ellsworth.

And why is he DD Verni? I knew his name was Carlos but where does DD come from?

I don't know lol Maybe because it's a bonus track and packaged with that Misery song with the guy from Accept?

Uhhhh. Carlos???. I had no fucking idea lol! I've never seen that! I have no idea where DD comes from then. Weird!

Haha! Right?! I wonder where that guy is now? He was huge and them poof, gone.

I know he had a stand up career for a little while, although I don't think it was huge, but after Brainsmasher he went very quiet. A quick Google says he's still working on both acting and stand up, his latest role was in A Star Is Born. It's fair to say he's dead to me :)

I reckon they should have released that Fight Song as a single or at least on the album. White Devil Amory is a good album but that sound could have beefed it right up. I was on a mini Overkill binge yesterday and listened to WDA, Grinding Wheel and Wings one after the other and they are three pretty strong albums. Grinding Wheel is harder than the other two and kicks arse most of the way through, I think I might give it more spins until I'm sick of it :)

Yeah it's weird all the credits on albums and wiki etc either list his last name or DD, even all the links and credits on Overkills wiki page list him as DD, yet his own page says he was born Carlos but offers no idea of where DD came from.

I love that this is the first time (reportedly) that his lost his guitar into the crowd and the best Blabber can come up with to make the story controversial is that some radio dick questioned whether Maiden needed three guitarist and whether Janik was too flamboyant for the band 10 fucking years ago. The topic that 'often' comes up can't be cited more recently than 10 years ago and it only comes up now because the guitar slipped from his grip. Go Blabbermouth keep up the excellent reporting.

Actually I suppose it could have been worse, if the guitar had hurt some one the headline would have been. "Unnecessary, flamboyant, guitarist attempts to kill audience member when questioned of his worth in Iron Maiden."

So he went back to stand up after the movies? That's what I knew him from and then he did that Ford Fairlane movie. And yes I have no interest in the guy either.

I still haven't fully warmed up to the Wings album. I might like a couple songs all the way through but then only pieces of songs. I totally agree Grinding Wheel is the strongest of the those albums.

Yeah if you hadn't told me that I would never have known. It's always been DD on everything I've seen. Someone needs to ask him.
