Classics Reborn

So as a part of stupid fucking remote learning instead of school one of the things our kids have to do is help cook something (the youngest) and cook something (the eldest). So I decided we were going to make Max Cavalera's Brazilian Lemon Chicken from Mosh Potatoes. It's a relatively simple cook, although he didn't give away quantities so it's a little bit of guess work, but when the first step is to get prepared with some 'manic metal' I'm sure it's going to be a good write up. :)

Turned out good. Was pretty easy although I had to adapt things a bit.

Just put a small amount of olive oil, juice of a lemon, two teaspoons of garlic and thyme in a bowl, measurements were guesswork but because it's used to coat the chicken and marinade for a while (we marinaded for about 3 hours). You need enough juice for the amount of chicken you are using so vary the ingredients to suit. Then put chicken on a grill at 400F. I didn't use a grill, I used a grill plate on the stove so temps weren't an issue to me. Cook chicken and baste with the juice until cooked. Then just before they are ready to come off turn chicken one last time and baste the topside with BBQ sauce and let heat of meat warm sauce and let it run, then once the sauce hits the grill take them off and serve.

Yeah it was and it was darn easy. Depending on how much you like lemon it might be a fine line between too little and too much but the sweetness of the BBQ sauce does take some of the tartness of the lemon away and you don't have to baste with the lemon while cooking either which will cut down some of the acidic tartness.

Yeah I don't mind it either, I'll often make a crumbed lemon chicken. But in this case the sweetness of the BBQ sauce was definitely a good addition to give sweet and sour.

It's a bit of a kick in the nuts when you see Tony Iommi's guitar selling for $24K, but good on them all for help Jason.

I didn't actually read the Iommi thing, only the headline, I didn't even realise it was multiple items. The guitar only went for $14K the whole kit went for a shade under $24K.

I would reckon in the right market place anything Black Sabbath would start fetching bigger prices than that though, a local auction while good for the cause might not have been the right place for such memorabilia.

It might only have been a local auction given where the money went, but shit the local council there paid more than $24K for a stone bench with Sabbath on it and all people do is sit on that. I know where I'd rather spend the money!

Dammit I don't remember how the topic of that metal cookbook came up but 2 recipes in a week and I'm wondering why it sat on the shelf for so long. I made Doro's Caribbean Chicken salad tonight and shit it was good. Was easy too, all that's needed diced chicken (cooked and cooled), cooked rice (cooled), chopped celery, green bell peppers, pimiento, and a small tin of crushed pineapple. (Pretty much any salad vegetables could be used.) Then the dressing is just plain yoghurt, mayonnaise , a little lemon juice, and a teaspoon of curry powder.
