They had houses and businesses here but Steve and (I can't remember his wife's name) spent many months on the road, mostly in America selling the Crocodile Hunter and then his preservations ideas. Bindi and Bob sort of took over the local face here, they were young, cute and very TV friendly so all the news shows wanted them over Steve. Steve was also copping a lot of flack in his last few years for his off camera antics, even his father had a law suit against Steve at one point and his father was part of the wildlife park business.
Steve owed his craft to people like Jack Absalom, and Malcolm Douglas who were doing what he was doing 30 years before him and to people like Alby Mangel who although he was a bit of a dick virtually created the idea of reality TV following a bushman through the outback in the very early 80's
