I pledge allegiance to the badge of the Mighty Texas Ranger and to Chuck for what he stands, one nation under Norris indivisible with cowboy hats and facial hair for all!

The new Texas Ranger can go and get fucked.....well from what I've heard, I've only seen the preview and I don't think I want to see any more.

Nah, he's a classic, just like Americans think Australian's all look and act like Crocodile Dundee, we think all Americans look and act like Walker Texas Ranger.

No, you took him when he married one of your own. Although to be fair we did let him be taken.
Give him credit where it's due for the wildlife sanctuaries etc and his animal preservation but his flamboyance and showmanship got old quickly here. It's not against him or the person he was but we'd had heaps of people already doing what he did and heaps more have come after him. The showmanship took him to a different level but it was the level the world wanted to see not us. When he did the US TV circuits, Oprah etc, he sort of became like Curtis Stone, good at what he did but Aussies quickly forgot about it. At home without the cameras just doing his wildlife thing the guy was brilliant at what he did and people flocked to see what him and his family did. Bindi and Bob then became the faces of the TV portion of it here and while we didn't forget about Steve there would have been only a small portion of his once large local audience keeping up with him.

One of the latest in a long line of crocodile guys in this country is this guy

No way! They still lived in Australia :tickled: as far as I know.
Well sure over there he's an Australian among many. Here he stood out from all his American counterparts. And was awesome. We used to get out of Jnr High and High school and go straight to the bud and Steve Irwin. Great days! Unmatched in entertainment and knowledge.

They had houses and businesses here but Steve and (I can't remember his wife's name) spent many months on the road, mostly in America selling the Crocodile Hunter and then his preservations ideas. Bindi and Bob sort of took over the local face here, they were young, cute and very TV friendly so all the news shows wanted them over Steve. Steve was also copping a lot of flack in his last few years for his off camera antics, even his father had a law suit against Steve at one point and his father was part of the wildlife park business.

Steve owed his craft to people like Jack Absalom, and Malcolm Douglas who were doing what he was doing 30 years before him and to people like Alby Mangel who although he was a bit of a dick virtually created the idea of reality TV following a bushman through the outback in the very early 80's
