Classics Reborn

I have NFV (the Hammersmith gig) and POV but I think by then I'd cut back on video buying because I didn't have the time to watch them so anything else released in the mid to late 90's I probably didn't even hear about.

For the right price? How about the $7.5 million you were only bragging about last week that you cost them when you walked out the door the first time you left?

I'll probably take the kids to the final tour if timing and shit is right when they make it here but I don't care if Ace can play some songs better than Tommy, we don't give a fuck who is wearing the space man mask it's about the music and the concert not the face we can't see.

I don't really care what they do after they retire. I notice the talk about continuing with different people only gets brought up by interviewers now and Paul seems to be a bit cold on the idea, not sure if that means they are second guessing themselves but it wont matter to me. If I can take the kids to the last ever Gene and Paul gig I will and it will be the last KISS show I ever go to, if KISS does continue and the kids choose to keep following them that's their choice.

Tickets are already pricey in this country. I'd expect to pay $160 each for general admin seats. I definitely wont be going for front row, floor or any sorts of meet and greet packages though.

I would imagine they would be. I'm also hoping that given their love affair with Australia they will leave us till later in the tour so we can see what other countries get.

I still have the blood tube and a guitar pick from when I saw Dynasty the Kiss cover band back in about '89.

Yeah they were pretty big at the time. Apparently we had three of the biggest cover bands (based on earnings alone) in the world in Australia at the time. The Zep Boys, Babba and the Kiss cover band. These bands were booked out 6 nights a week 11 months of the year playing gigs all in excess of 1000 people some peak as high as 4000. I think it was a large reason why promoters eventually started getting off their arse and bringing out international acts that weren't just top 40, if a cover band could sell tickets an original band had to sell tickets.

In a strange coincidence six months or so after KISS did a gig somewhere in the US (in '91) and a pyro fucked up and set the roof on fire we did a gig with the KISS cover band Dynassty and did almost the same thing. Smaller venue and smaller fire but one of the flames got too close to the roof and left black scorch marks in it, cost them a couple of thousand to have fixed :)

Yeah it amazes me what some of these cover bands make! I have mixed feelings if they should be paying the band a fee. Maybe the really big ones.

Shit man. That would really suck! Especially if a Great White incident happened.

Yeah I think they probably should, but it would have to be a good will thing not a rule for all because while the big ones could afford to do it the small bands who get only few gigs probably couldn't. The only other way would be to do it by earnings, but that would be a prick to police. Be like that story last year or the year before where Metallica took that Canadian garage band to court for using a logo close to theirs or something, but the band quickly reported that they knew nothing about it.

In this country we have a different system, musos who register with the recording industry actually get paid a fee to play their only music live. It's not much, only cents, but it's an incentive to write your own music. The same mob pay the original writers if their song is played as a cover. It's does rely on honesty and having a muso put in his set list each time he plays, but if they go to the trouble to be registered and they want to be paid themselves they are usually happy to do such things because it does help the local industry.

Our KISS moment wasn't too bad, it was a smouldering roof surface not a full on flame and burning roof. In the end the show was only stopped for about 10 minutes but the building owners were pissed off and they ranted for about a week :)

Oh I love the way this guy can waffle shit. The clone comment has been headlined before but the details he put in this interview are still wonderful.

I don't recall me being cited as an influence on Richie when he was in his young days. But it is what it is.
It it what it is and the fact that he didn't cite you as an influence probably removes the thought that you were fucking cloned you numb nuts!

you've got Rob [Halford] up there who's the voice of PRIEST and does incredibly well, certainly at this time in his life.
Yeah take that Rob you old prick, you're doing well for a decrepit old man!

It is what it is, it is what it is, it is what it is. Good god. Like a spiteful parrot. As he said and taken credit for. That's the uniform right? So really it's just the fact that Richie happens to be blonde lol. Such a freakin dumb ass.
