Coldplay

Okay... do you all hate them? I mean, they're a big-selling band, their songs are very accessible most of the time and are far from complex, everyone knows who they are, they're making a lot of money (probably). It would be sooo easy to hate them, right? And yet, personally I don't. I think they're quite good, sometimes very good, I especially like their latest album... They're not the most talented band out there, and their music isn't complicated, quite the opposite, it's often very simple. But dispite all that, I never get tired of them. They do have talent and they have their own sound, and on Viva la vida they actually experiment a bit with instruments and the structures of the songs... Are there any more Opeth fans who also listen to Coldplay, I wonder?

really? i think viva la vida is an excellent record, X&Y is a close second...but the rest of it is just okay.

I saw them on SNL and a couple of other times I've heard their music. I wouldn't choose to listen to them, but if someone played their music, I wouldn't care too much, I suppose.

I like Coldplay. Viva La Vida is too happy for me mostly, but they have a good amount of interesting songs on their older records. They really deserve their status I think.

They are ok. Insanely overrated band. As far as alt rock goes they are ok, not the pinnacle as many seem to believe.

I really liked Viva la Vida, I heard their 2 previous records and I wasn't that impressed but Viva la Vida is a really great album

They're alright. I'd come to them when I need some inoffensive but music to listen to at work. It's pretty wise of them to have Brian Eno produce the new album, that could gain them some credibility among more serious music fans I think.
