Hey Gordy!
I'm going with a couple of friends from here. Stevebostonian from CDC, Parkerburg area, is going. He also was going to Baltimore today. Plan on getting a room but I don't know where. Does the Newport have any parking? I don't think they do. Any suggestions on where to stay? Is there anywhere close enough to walk that's not too much money???

Sorry, I don't know too much about that area. Last time I went to a show there was Slayer in October of '03. I do know the Newport has absolutely no parking. You have to park on the street in the surrounding student neighborhood, which absolutely sucks. The Alrosa has a parking lot, but at least no metal legends ever got shot at the Newport.
I just looked on Google Earth and see now the closest hotels, according to that, are on East 9th, and they're not right by High Street either. The Newport is on High street between 12th and 13th streets.

Parking there sucks. Don't even try to park on High St at all. Get behind the club and there should be plenty of meters on those streets. you might have to park a block or two away if you get there later. Behind the club is apts for the college students. Not sure if the meters are 12hr (1 quarter= 1hr) or 1hr (1 quarter is like 5 minutes or some shit) meters. so bring some change. After 6pm in downtown Columbus all meters are free. So only pay up to 6 oclock.
Also directly behind the club are some apt complexes that have some parking spots. But I wouldn't park in those spots you might get towed.

And as for hotels downtown. THere all fucking expensive. You might want to try maybe a hotel/motel near the airport is you wanna save money. orbitz should be able to give you listings. The drive from the airport area to the club is about 20 minutes. Just hop on 670 W. It'll take you directly into downtown. You'll be on 3rd st. bang a right anywhere and High st is the next street up. take a right on HIgh and keep going til you hit the newport ( about a 5-8 minute drive with the lights and shit I would guess). should be on your right hand side.

Might? Heh...DO NOT PARK IN ANY OF THOSE APARTMENT COMPLEXES! You WILL get towed. The towtrucks are out like hawks evey night looking for people to nab. It's at least $80 - $100 to get your car back.
There is an OSU parking garage on High Street, it's a block or two north of the club. I usually drive up and down 12th - 13th - 14th Aves looking for spots.
Those hotels aren't that far away. There's also a Days Inn up around 17th Ave by the fairgrounds. I checked it and it's $100. I remember that Anthrax stayed there on the 'Stomp 442' tour.
I just checked on hotwire.com, and there is a 2 1/2 star hotel in the OSU area for $44. I'd get that hotel and then grab a cab to the show.
All that being said, I'll be there.
