I've got a few quirks when it comes to recording vocals and I don't know if they are good for me or not.
But first, take a listen to this, not very metal to start with but gets more intense later.

One of the things I tend to prefer is, recording phrase by phrase to get the time and feel BUT with nothing but drums monitoring in one ear. Is that as weird as it seems to me? The former recording posted was partly done (the later part) like that. And I tend to get better results to my ear like that.
How's the reverb/delay? I know the mix isn't great but it's something.
Also is it just me or do vocals tend to sound kinda boxey in the 100-500hz range if you over compress, or is that just my voice/mic/room combo making me hear that?
