Country Appreciation Thread

Well I'm no country, but I love Creedence Clearwater Revival. They play 'bayou' don't they? I think it has definite roots in country music.

Than....The Darkness
:) Charlie Daniels had a great kick ass band in the 70s. It was during that hot Southern Rock phase. If you're saying "country" and including all the bands / artists that have that "country flavor" but aren't straight "country", I'll take back the :Puke:
Molly Hatchet, Allman Bros. Band, etc. Love that stuff, but that's "Southern Rock", son. :p

Garth is cool, I dig his stuff. Brooks & Dunn are great though. Faith Hill makes me want to puke, she's one of those "country pop" singers like Dixie Chicks, who I also cannot stand after having to hear their damn christmas album a million times at work. The rest of country just all sounds the same to me. My friend has like the biggest obsession with Kenny Chesney, so when she goes on and on about how she wants him, it really ruins any chance country music may have with me.

 taliwakker.. well i certainly agree there.

As for country music, not my thing at all.. BUT... I can respect country musicians for usually coming from the heart and making music that speaks to them rather than the typical music we all know and *vomit* love *vomit* thats about bitches, ho's and 'bling bling' (rolls eyes).

On the weekend here they have a country music video hits sort of thing, sometimes the songs can actually be pretty funny. There was one from an Aussie chick about when you ask people how they are (being rhetorical, you're expecting them to say "good" and leave it at that), and they launch into every little problem in their life that you just didnt need to know about.

That sounds like the concept album i'm writing.....a young bitch's voyage into ho-dom in search of the bling bling....watch out Arjen.

Frank Zappa did a song called 'Harder than your husband'...that is the only country song i will admit to liking....not that i have anything to confess...now back to writing my concept album. I need to work out who i am going to get to sing the part of 'The Young Bitch', 'The teenage Ho', 'The Pimp', 'the Doctor at the Clinic', 'The Porn scout', 'The Porn Director', 'The Priest', 'The Goat' (and i want to use a real goat who can improvise in the studio, not just samples).....so many decisions.
