Cover of "The Looming of Dust in the Dark (& the Illumination)"

That was pretty awesome. I especially like the creepiness at the beginning and the harmonized vocals.

Wow, what a cool interpretation! I was blown away (though I expected nothing less from you guys)! Thanks so much for your efforts here. The vocals are great, the instrumentation and programming edgy but still really pleasing...

I hope this will motivate other Woods covers from more people.

btw - Bianca and Joe, when is your album coming out? As you know, I'm a fan! Looking forward to it! :):kickass:

Wow, thanks for all the positive comments! It's certainly very appreciated and very encouraging.... I had confidence but Joe was a little nervous of what the hardcore metalheads would think, since it is quite a different interpretation :)

I graduate college in May so I think that all music recording will be full speed ahead after that. We have hopes to record a good number of songs after that, some old and some new. I think we're on a "Woods timeline" when it comes to releasing an album but it will absolutely happen eventually! ;)

If I could give one constructive criticism, it would be that I wasn't a big fan of the choppiness later on in the song. HOWEVER, I'm not a big fan of electronic music and barely ever listen to it, so that might have been the effect you were going for. I just liked the beginning a bit more. Overall I still love it, and its so cool to see one idea being transformed into something totally new and different.

:p I don't like that reference at all. There are many other things that I'd like us to be known for. WoY DID release three albums between 2002-2007. Sure things could have gone more smoothly and happened quicker, but that's alright, IMO. I wish that more people who criticize us for 'the wait' would realize that we all wait so much longer for so many more bands to release albums and other things to finally happen out there. Three years for a long album, really isn't THAT long (especially from our side of the story). IMMORTAL's "SOND" was released in 2002 for example...who's looking forward to that new one? I am. Where are we now? 2008. etc...

However, just like with you guys, things will start to happen quicker with WoY in the future, from now on and that will make many things better. As you know, I'm really looking forward to YOUR album! + I think many other people are, too! Make yourself at home on this forum and please continue to keep us posted!

Back on topic: still loving this cover! :kickass:

In all fairness Dave, a lot of the time even though a band hasn't released albums in a while, they may be still out there touring and shit all over the world - which is a bit time consuming. As for Immortal... well, they broke up, so I hope you don't take their example!

But I agree, I don't think 3 years is long at all these days - it's just about normal. I'd be happy even if you kept it up at this rate.

Don't worry, I'm only teasing you DG ;) All good things are worth waiting for, and I'm pretty patient actually. Although now that the end is in sight for the new Opeth, the wait is starting to kill me! :zombie: As for our stuff, art school definitely sucks your life away and doesn't leave time for anything else, so I'm really looking forward to having more time for music making.

@Dauden: I wasn't sure about it either at first, but it definitely grew on me with further listens... now I feel like it adds a cool dynamic element. It might grow on you too. :)

In all fairness, indeed! If you're in a band, touring the world and playing music for a living however is much better than having a full time 'career' day job that sucks out all your energy instead - which is just as time consuming and even more taxing on your creative, hopeful soul! :heh:

If on tour, I'd make time to write music early in the morning, late at night, on a bus, in my sleep, late at night in my sleep sleeping, in a ditch, etc...

It is a true luxury IMO, to be able to focus on just one thing and it as best as possible. Thus is the new goal, the new dream. We'll see how things go. :kickass:

^ Yeah, I think a big part too was just the delay. In reality it really wasn't that huge of a gap from Woods II, it was just that we got so hungry for it, after hearing about it, haha. Which isn't a bad thing at all, of course.
