I think the reason I never got into Devin Townsend so much was because of SYL. I liked them, but the band wasn't really something to showcase Devins great lead playing abilities. I didn't know he was that good until I saw some videos of him with Vai and a few of his lesson videos.

Either way, he's another guitarist who really does deserve more credit for his playing, especially when people are out there going "ZOMG ALEXI!!!" and don't realize that he's not the greatest thing around.
