Crimson / Crimson II

I previously said that I was dissapointed by atleast Crimson II
I rated them:
Crimson - 9
Crimson II - 7.5
Now It´s more like
Crimson - 10
Crimson II - 9.5
They are so fucking good!! Not worthy...

I think Crimson is a lot better than Crimson II. Not that Crimson II is in anyway bad, its quite good, but Crimson is simply classic.

Yes, I think that Crimson is better as well, but I can´t give Crimson a 11/10 so...And Crimson II is definitely an album that grows on you after time..But yeah, you´re right..Crimson is overall a much better album...Still I love Crimson II now as well...

I asked Mikael about which one he thinks is better at the Phoenix and he said and i quote "Crimson II is shit. The sound of the album is just awful." I like them both personally. Don't pass that Mikael quote on, it could get back to Dan Swano.

I love Crimson I, and I have noticed very similar riffs to Black Rose Immortal - listen to them carefully:

So yeah...I bought a copy of Crimson II a littleb it ago and while it is good, I don't really understand all the hype surrounding it. Maybe it hasn't clicked yet....it's a good melodic death metal album but I can't say that I hear anything in there that hasn't been done before....and done better...and why the hell is like every 60 seconds separated by another track? Seems pretty pointless to me.

No idea where Mike's coming from with that sound quality of Crimson II comment..
anyway, if anything I'd rate CI 10.0 and CII 9.9,
but who knows, if they were released at the same time and we didn't have seven extra years to grow attached to the first one maybe we'd view them more equaly. They each own in their own way, different vibe...

And ggggggu, one might say that Mikael appeared on Crimson I so it is a related topic.

Crimson II took a little longer to grow on me, but I love it almost as much as the first one.

I actually like Crimson 2 more than the original. I think if they were released the other way around, Crimson 2 would be everyone's choice, closely followed by 1. I think nostalgia rules when it comes to this album.

Dan Swano has alot of good riffs and ideas... but on the other hand he also has some really simple ones that bore you outright. I respect that the albums are so big and grand, but at times it can feel as if it drags on. Mike is probably right about the sound of the album, props to him for saying it.

I think that Crimson II sounds like Moontower II... but honestly I love Moontower.. so I can't complain.
