Crimson / Crimson II

Ive actually never heard Edge of Sanity, but I just read the lyrics for crimson and now I want to hear the music. Was I right in interpreting the song as the rise and fall of the antichrist because thats what i got out of the lyrics.

And ggggggu, one might say that Mikael appeared on Crimson I so it is a related topic.
It still doesn't make it Opeth.

I still edges out II by a few points, but even though II is not quite as good, I'm glad Dan decided to do a sequel. All of I is excellent, but to me, whenever I listen to it,(I still listen to it about once a month!!)the first 3 minutes alone still blows me away. On II, my favorite parts are the musical parts found in tracks 6, 31,32, and I think 37. Edge of sanity is what got me into Opeth, because when I got Crimson, I also got Orchid shortly after. As for the sound of Crimson II, it is a bit rougly mixed, but it's very rare anyway that two albums that far apart are going to sound alike. Making this album seven years later....it's hard to capture the magic (sound wise) twice! And besides, why try to do the exact same thing twice? II takes a few listens to adjust to the mix, but after a few listens, you'll find that it's just about as good as I.

More Opeth fans should buy CI and CII. We all know Dan deserves the money and exposure, and they're all progressive death metal with long songs and some acoustic parts.. hehe, not that different when you think of it. Except they are very differently executed.

So yea, if you haven't heard these wonderful Edge of Sanity albums, give em a try.
