Actually, styling the hair with gel destroys it. Trust me, I used to do it before it was long, and I had to cut about 5 cm of it because of it.

I don't think that was directed at me, but I'm gonna reply anyways:
I used to use gel and styling products along time ago, now I never use any.
Only thing I do is dye my hair about 2 times a year, maybe 3-4. And blowdry it.
Still loosing alot of hair, but it varies.

nah, I think it depends on the person. I usually have my hair tied when I sleep and my hair is very, very nice. this could also be b/c I never do anything else to it (blow dry, straighten, hairspray, etc.)

Probably. It also has to do with vitamins you take every day. Actually, I'm pretty sure (as in I am talking out of my ass) that almost everything in life has a reaction on hair.

Blue is actually one of THE worst colors (besides green) on me cause my eyes are green. Wavy requires a perm or daily maintenance.. which I don't do. I got perms all the time when I was a kid though. and my hair doesn't hold curls cause it's too heavy. I'll give you a break cause you're a straight dude.. you're not supposed to know shit about hair.

A really dark purple that is near black might suit you, although I don't see why you would want to lose the red, it looks excellent. I'd have to say I'm with Nick Brooks though, natural hair ftw, Brown waivy hair is awesome

Nah, I wear it in a braid to keep it in one place better.
Bleaching dries out hair big time but occasional dying with non-toxic dyes isn't very damaging. It changes the texture but it's nothing to worry about.
Just washing it period can kill it. Shampoos strip hair of natural oils.

This is what I need to do but I need to get my health insurance situation figured out first.
I wanna lose the red cause I have to bleach it first in order to get the red that bright. I refuse to bleach my hair more than once per year for fear of seriously destroying it, so I get mad roots and after a while, even with the semi-permanent bright colors over them, it just looks ridiculous. It's really high maintenance and since my hair is falling out and misbehaving I wanna do something simple and basic which doesn't require frequent attention. I'm looking to go back to basics at least til I figure out what the hell is going on and I can stop thinking I'm going bald.

I am having some hair-related worries myself. My hair is thinning where I part it and my hair is dry as hell =/ I keep telling myself it is all in my head but I can't help but feel worried that my hairline is starting to thin. Sometimes I just want to shave it all and abandon having long-hair for good.

Well you've said Blue green and Red are out of the picture, and purple has been suggested already. Generic light-brown would look great, and your scalp will jizz itself in happiness (by which I mean, regain its natural oils and whatnot).
Although, its never to late to invest in hair extensions
